John Huntsman ... dont worry, he's a joke too
John Huntsman, Former US AMbassador to China, a Republican that President Obama appointed to get him out of the way. I believe many in the Republican Party consider him to be the great white hope for 2012, a guy who is both an articulate adult and a Republican who would like to be President.

Ambassador Huntsman gave the Commencement Address to the University of South Carolina - introducing himself to the Primary Voters of that state, who he hopes will soon see fit to chose him. The address is available at the Cspan website, they have replayed it several times.

Not to worry, this is one of the most condescending clowns to speak at public University in decades. If he talks to voters the same way he is talking to these graduates he should piss off a good number of them. Sickly sweet platitudes, like he was talking to a somewhat dull 5th grade civics class.

1. A total media creation
I have only one thing to say about Huntsman - remember President Fred Thompson.

They're grasping at straws.

2. The problem for him is his religion
The fundies won't vote for a Mormon. The ones around here think Mormonism is a cult.

5. More to the point it isn't Christianity
and that is what matters to Fundamentalists.

They think God was originally a mortal being from another planet.

Yes I know to atheists and agnostics it's no more absurd than the bible, but we're not talking about the way they feel about Mormons and the impact that will have are we.

The bitter irony is Mormonism as I see it is their history of persecution should be a basis for a sort of acceptance and understanding of people who are different, but it is the basis for the exact opposite. As they see it, they suffered because they were super special the "martyr" way, and nothing regarding the wrongness of their persecution applies to groups who today suffer the same sort of treatment albeit for different reasons.

4. Even Tim Pawlenty
will get better primary and poll numbers than Huntsman will. His only hope is that the winning Repuke stooge will pick him as the VP candidate, which will give him a boost towards 2016. And even that's got a snowball's chance in hell.

6. I seem to remember...
A bunch of democrats who laughed "That hick Bill Clinton wants to run for President, after being governor of Arkansas?"
"Hahahahahaha!!!"

And there were similar statements made about a certain senator from Illinois, who didn't have much experience in the Senate.

7. Huntsman is the best of the lot. Actually, he's a good guy.
As governor of Utah he was pretty reasonable. In favor of gay marriage, saved benefits for the poor when they were on the block. His dad has given a ton of money to his cancer institute. He would be a democrat in another state. He may do a Romney and pander to the right but he's a decent guy.
