10. Millions of the exceptions
Just because we work for these companies doesn't make us crook - we work just as hard as the next person.

12. You and the OP may think it's joking around but I find it offensive
I understand the issue against those that run these companies, but these companies do provide good jobs for many many people including posters here. I mean you have to understand day in and day out I see the company I work for getting ripped to shreds, but I respect the fact that I happen to work for a US Bank and this is to be expected in light of the economy today. But just because DUers might find my CEO or the CEO of these other companies offensive doesn't mean those of us who work there are just as bad.

I think this is great that there are more job hirings going on, hopefully this is a sign of positive things ahead!

2. Secret #1 for getting hired by one of these companies
Edited on Mon May-09-11 02:31 PM by LynneSin
Don't go in there with a massive, ignorant chip on your shoulders that you could actually be applying for a job at one of these companies

From

LynneSin,
employee at one of those evil companies for the last 10 years. Yeah, I know I work for the bad guy but I love my job so deal with it.

____________________________________________

How about instead of being rude about it, post something positive like - hey, these companies are hiring and it might be a chance to get a good paying job. I don't know if you are aware of this but there are many DUers who work at these businesses. We're just mid-level employees doing a job.

:grr:

4. I understand
I worked for Nationwide for almost 15 years (5 contractor, 9.5 employee) and loved most of the time I was there, it was a really great place to work. That never made them any less of a typical evil insurance company, they are not on your side but it was a great place to work.

5. Thank you
although for what it's work I've used Nationwide since I was 16 years old. I'd switch but I've been getting seriously killer discounts for being a long-term customer and I like my agent.

7. That is one of their best points
They do give killer discounts the longer you are with them. Just be careful of what information you give them... One of the last projects I worked on there was what they were calling "Matrixing". They are putting in place massive data collection on people to determine rates, where they can't get the information, it gets bypassed but pretty much everything they can get, they are using to determine premiums. Lots of real questionable stuff, when I was shown the list I asked if this was legal and was told they did not care, premiums would outweigh any fine.

6. Too bad Goldman Sachs isn't hiring
being in their crowd is the same as being U.S. nobility.

8. Most of them probably had "at least 350 openings" even at the bottom of the downturn.
That doesn't mean that they weren't laying off more (overall) than they were hiring.

13. DO NOT work for Bank of America people. The happiest day of my life was the day I walked out of
that hell hole.
