Strauss-Kahn being led away in handcuffs
A rare occasion for these arrogant Western power brokers.
They've been raping the rest of us for centuries - hubby says I must excuse his vicarious pleasure.

2. He will probably get some kind of diplomatic immunity
or some bullshit. I hope this destroys his career.

5. I don't know about his career, but it has destroyed his chance to become president of France
I heard on a news report that he does not have diplomatic immunity.

6. There's only one kind of diplomatic immunity, and he ain't got it.
He wasn't in New York on IMF business. Off the clock - Out of luck.

Of course, he's innocent until proven guilty. I hope he has a very nice stay in jail while he awaits trial. I hear the accommodations in NYC are quite pleasant. The Riker's Island Hotel has a great reputation.

10. Well, see...there you are.
A lovely view of the river, as well, I understand. And such pleasant company, too...people he'll have much in common with...

Yes, I'm envious of his Island vacation.

16. At least he'll understand the world economy a little
better when he hears the stories from many on Riker's island.

Must be some slide from a $3,000 a night hotel suite(paid for by the taxpayers of the world) to Rikers. I don't even care if he was set up. Everyone else must cut back except these arrogant scumbags who make life hell for poor people everywhere.

25. His dinner tonight: Turkey burgers and mashed potatoes
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/17/nyregion/imf-chief-is-held-without-bail.html

Other details emerged on Monday, some more arcane than others. For example, when he stood in a police lineup of five men — and was ultimately identified by the housekeeper — he was No. 3, in the center. He had eaten two meals Sunday, both paid for by the Police Department, which is routine. For breakfast: eggs, toast and potatoes. For dinner: “a sandwich of cheese, ham and mustard from a local Harlem deli,” said Paul J. Browne, the department’s chief spokesman. At Rikers, Mr. Strauss-Kahn will be issued a standard green plastic drinking cup. If he reached the jail in time for the evening meal on Monday, he would have been served two turkey burgers and mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, two slices of whole-wheat bread and some fruit — sliced pears — along with a fruit drink or tea.

26. Presumption of innocence?
The more I hear of this story, complete with the snide remarks about the powerful getting their comeuppance, the stinkier it gets. This promises to be quite the media circus for weeks to come. I think it is going to have more twists and turns than a Six Flags roller coaster. You know, it's not that hard to set people up in third world banana republics (and yes, I DO mean the U.S. of A.) and toss them into the clink until everyone forgets about them. If a real detective was on the case, he could start off with Strauss-Kahn's phone log for the last month and make a list of those he pissed off and those who stand to gain from his political demise. Sounds like it was taken chapter and verse from the Book of Rove.

past history showing he had this issue and has not gotten in trouble for it. got caught this time.

you would rather twist and turn it into multi agency conspiracy.....

30. I have to agree
The lynch mob mentality around here certainly is stinky. All it takes is an *accusation* against some man (preferably some "geezer" in his 40's or older) and the tar, feathers, pitchforks and nooses come out in full force.

arrest, hearing and rikers of an important, rich, out of country big wig.

we dont give a flip about the rich in this country and no privilege to them

32. They've been doing this to folks from developing countries
for centuries - if he's innocent he's still damaged goods like our economies.
I don't give a flying fuck about Strauss-Kahn.

37. Ok, I don't presume innocence in this case
especially as more tales of his sexcapades come out into the open, so I guess I'm disqualified from the jury pool.

Maybe some other folks will be glad to serve, I've got jury duty in my county next week as it is, and this rapist won't be in front of me.

40. I hope you aren't in detective school

There's not a whole lot of room for complications here.

He is entitled to be presumed innocent by the court in which he is tried. I am not required to presume a god-damned thing.

But, to investigate this alleged crime, the room, the victim, the accused, the hotel security videos, and whatnot will likely bear more fruit in the way of determinIng what happened than looking a his old cell phone calls.

28. I have a friend who lives in Paris....
we emailed today over DSK as she says everyone refers to him over there. She said the French are pretty crazed over the entire thing...she personally cannot stand the scum, as she called him. I asked her how the French were reacting to the Americans arresting DSK and holding him without bail. She said, "LOL...the French are very quiet about the American action against him. That should tell you everything!"

By the way, my friend is Scottish, but has lived in Paris for over twenty years.

I know this guy is presumed innocent until proven guilty but really...did you look at him...he looks like scum.

and he's already tried, convicted and executed among some circles, regardless of what is actually going on behind the scenes.

39. I can't help wondering whether he would have been likely to get away with it if
he had attacked a maid in a hotel in Paris. Or even if the maid would have dared to report the attack in this case.
