A child who will have a reason to dislike her parents
from NBC:

Think you like Facebook? Think again.

An Israeli couple likes Facebook so much that they named their newborn daughter "Like." You know as in the like icon on the popular Palo Alto-based social-networking site.

"To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel," the father told the German Press Agency dpa. "If once people gave Biblical names and that was the icon, then today (the Facebook Like) is one of the most famous icons in the world." ..............(more)

...an Egyptian couple named their new baby "Facebook".

I went to high school with a girl named Lasagna (and I've got the yearbook to prove it). :P

but I have met the worst ever. A girl named syphilis, pronounced si-phal-us. I just can't imagine what those parents were thinking.

15. pretty bad
pretty bad

A nabour of me, once had a cat whoes name was Clamydia - But the name was shanged to Sussa, as it was little goofy to call in the cat in the evening.. And she also got a "home" away from home in my house as the owner often was going early to bed, and the poor cat find herself locked out. Then she got to me, and in.. To some food, and some love.. She was also really "human" in her wais, and often was more og less living with me as "my" cat. I think she liked me, becouse she often walked with me to where the highway started, and then stod there when I was coming home in the evening. And then home to some food, and some care.

I still miss the dam cat. She was a nice cat, and she "connected" with in a way that she never did with other..

8. Sometimes people find different names for their children, and the
children survive.

Frank Zappa comes to mind - his kids are Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Rodan, and Diva

12. My idea for an international tribunal for child naming looks better all the time
It's far too important a decision to leave to nitwit parents. "Like" the folks in this story.

20. My panel's purview would extend to spelling, as well
We wouldn't care if you named your dog Phydeaux, but a kid with a weirdly-spelled name is just too much of a headache for his or her teachers, and they have enough to contend with.

Rec and Unrec. I'll bet Skinner would give them their very own Grovelbots to play with.
