Are private insurers being kicked out of Vermont?
Edited on Fri May-27-11 08:20 AM by fried eggs
What's going to happen to the private insurers who do business in Vermont?

### Never mind, I found an answer. The private companies will still be in the picture behind the scenes. I was hoping their plan would truly be single payer, but it doesn't appear to be.

5. They'll claim they have to raise rates 100,000,000%
to compensate for lost monies from Vermont

Then the sensible media will tell us all it's all Vermont's fault insurance is so high.

3. If all goes to plan all insurances will be merged in to Green Mountain Care
If your concern is with jobs I would imagine most of the jobs will be moved as well since all those jobs will still be needed.

4. no. but it will indeed be single payer
everything will be managed through Green Mountain Care- fees will be set and equalized between Medicare/Medicaid and the new entity. Private insurers are in the mix in several single pay systems in Europe and in Taiwan.
