Why is UnCut going after Apple instead of big oil or finance? It's quite simple...
You can't boycott oil or banks. You can try, and surely a few hardcore activists who live in a metro area with a decent public transportation system would try to comply with some form of boycott, but how does one boycott Wall Street? Cash out your 401k (assuming you have one), pay hefty penalties and interest, and then what?

Meanwhile, Apple has a built in hate base eager to help bring them down so their Zunes and Windows and Linux reign supreme. iPads and iPhones are physical objects which could be replaced by other products if you could pry them out of their users cold, dead fingers. That's a big if, but it's a more likely scenario than convincing anyone to simply stop using oil or money. Besides, everyone has hated oil companies and Wall Street for so long, you'd hardly raise any eyebrows with yet another call for them to pay up when everyone also knows the politicians are there to protect their sacred donors.

So you see, it really is quite simple. Look how fast the anti-Apple threads have taken off here on DU. UnCut knows how to play the game just as Apple, Big Oil and Wall Street do.

7. Why do you assume I'm not educated about the situation?
Is there anything I said you actually disagree with, or just in for the snark?

10. yes your post implies that Apple is undeserving of the attacks
on it. Apple is completely deserving. Uncut is not 'picking on apple' they are picking on a current list of six huge tax dodging corporations:

Bank of America
Verizon
FedEx
GE
BP
Apple

Oh wait what is that there - BP? what? An oil company? Huh?

I have no idea what your motivation is for "Leave Apple Alone" but it is misguided.

12. My post does not imply that, you made that connection yourself.
My posts speaks nothing about "deserving" anything. It could be about any manufacturer of any popular consumer product -- because there is a tangible thing which can be targeted, unlike oil or money which would be damned near impossible to boycott. Apple makes the perfect target because they are so ubiquitous and in so many people's hands.

I'm sorry, but your charge that I am saying Apple is somehow undeserving of scrutiny is just false. I never implied any such thing, I just explained why UnCut chose to target them instead of Big Oil of Wall Street.

17. Implication
noun /ˌimpliˈkāSHən/
implications, plural

The conclusion that can be drawn from something, although it is not explicitly stated
- the implication is that no one person at the bank is responsible

"Why is UnCut going after Apple instead of big oil or finance?"

well that headline is a big fat ZERO on the truthiness scale. Uncut is going after Big Finance Big Oil and Poor Widdle Apple.

In all fairness Uncut is not going after Apple over what amounts to slave labor conditions in Schengen. They should. Apple and other global corporations using the economic zones in China should be held accountable for what they are doing.

2. You can use credit unions, which is not always a viable option
for same. Big oil? Much harder, unless you live close to or can bike to, everywhere.

3. I quit driving and using credit cards - not a total boycott but good enough yes?
Besides apple machines are made by exploited people. There's a lot of blood, sweat and tears in every iphone.

9. And you think oil and big finance don't exploit people all over the world?
I'm not for a minute trying to defend Apple's manufacturing and treatment of workers. That's not what the op is about. It is in response to several posts I've seen asking why UnCut is concerned with Apple while Big Oil and Wall Street interests reap billions and billions and also pay little or no tax. I will say that I think it is b.s. to call Apple (or Exxon Mobil, for that matter) a "cheat" for using perfectly legal means to avoid paying taxes. That's what corporations do; they return as much profit as possible to their shareholders. We should be focusing on the laws and loopholes which make it possible, not the business doing something perfectly legal.

And odds are, you never would have bought from
them anyway.

That is the real trouble with UnCut's targeting Apple. The haters already hate them and the iPhone users are already into AT&T or Verizon with two-year contracts and expensive hardware. Hardware the tend to LOVE, btw.

It is great that UnCut is bringing light to Apple's manufacturing processes. Apple actually does listen every now and then. But to fault them for using perfectly legal means to avoid paying taxes is ridiculous. It is how any corporation is run, to make money. It's the law that allows them to operate this way that should be addressed before they can be called a "cheater." It's not cheating when they're all playing by the same rules.

Speaking of AT&T, what was their tax bill? Are they on UnCut's shit list, too?

16. That's just silly.
Do you deny it? Read ANY thread involving Apple, positive or negative. They quickly devolve into cries of "Fanboy!" as said haters remind everyone why Apple suck and their chosen platform is better. It happens here and on damned near any other message board I've read.

18. Linux??
Um.... you do know that linux is FOSS, right?

There's no exploitation of any kind in the linux equation. Oh, and the entire internet uses *nix as an integral part of the backbone that runs the whole thing because it's a better choice than either Windows or Apple.

Sheesh.

Is this the first people have heard of them now?
