Feel like a jackass for defending Weiner? Don't. It's not your fault!

Serious amounts of fact based information from legitimate if left leaning news organizations pointed towards a hoax. Especially given the record of past so-called scandals reported by Breitbart. Breitbart has not gained credibility. Breitbart manipulated the information he had in his possession. He still can't be trusted and his behavior during this scandal proves it. Breitbart is a smear operation posing as a news organization. His operation's mission was not to inform their readers or the public at large but to smear Weiner and only smear Weiner. That is not a mission statement of a legitimate news organization. Publishing half truths is just as deceptive as an outright lie. Withholding information to create sensationalism is not news reporting, it is a smear tactic. Breitbart had the goods on Weiner from day one and didn't publish it. Responsible and ethical news organizations collect facts and publish them to inform their readers. They don't withhold pertinent information in an effort to bait the smear target into giving false denials only to release the damning information at a later date. Can you imagine CBS News showing one cropped picture from Abu Graib then baiting Bush Administration officials into denying abuse in Iraq then dropping the money shot after they got the desired results from their manipulation? No you can't. It wouldn't happen. Real news organizations first obligation is to fully inform their audience of ALL of the facts as they know them, when they know them and not inject themselves into the story through manipulation of individuals involved in the story or the readers who they purport to be servicing. Breitbart's business is a smear organization and is still not trustworthy. Half truths, delayed truths, and omitted truths are as good as lies.

Yes we know, Breitbart is a complete jackass which makes it even worse. Weiner not only lied over and over and over again, but now that he's well and truly busted he managed to give Breitbart some legitimacy which that slimeball not deserve.

7. It was legitimate enough to bust Weiner...

Politics is war. Breitbart is the enemy. Period. He is a conservative slime merchant and he succeeded in taking down an outspoken progressive. Just because our opposition is often filth doesn't mean we should suspend reason and logic and believe a stream of obvious lies coming from someone on our team. Breitbart busted him and that's that. All that wasted bandwidth about this whole thing being a hoax was worthless since one could plainly watch Wiener and see he was lying badly over and over again.

If I had the goods to take down a prominent conservative like Paul Ryan or some such Republican leader I'd use it in a minute no matter how sleazy. As I said, politics is war and the ends would justify the means.
