1. He was re-elected and given a GOP applause on his return.

5. Demanding equal treatment for "similar" indiscretions is something that happens
in the grown-up world. And since Vitter broke the law and is still in Congress, because he's a repuke he's still there.

I'm fucking sick of this fucking hypocrisy.

6. But neither Vitter nor Weiner…
are grown-ups.

And neither is finger-pointing.

11. Exactly.
Why should politicians have any standards?

Weiner is a disgusting piece of lying garbage, completely lacking in character. So are a lot of repukes. I'm not sure which side is ahead in the ratings, or if it matters.

Now let's get back to making fun of Palin.

7. What the republicans will say
(if they are smart. yea, I know, big if) is every time Weiner makes a statement, or goes opposite them on a cable show, or even looks like he is about to get on a tear will be.

"Yea, yea, we will get to that. Just keep your pants on."

I foresee this being a muzzle.

For the chorus... you're welcome for my concern. :eyes:

8. What you say
says, in effect, "We're no worse than they are!"

I'd like to hold our side to a higher standard than reich-wing Pukes hold their hypocrites to.

9. I think he should say, If we set the precedent that everyone who texts
anything inappropriate must resign from congress we will be regretting it for decades.

10. or maybe set an example and resign first
and call on others to do the same. It would be more adult than the "you first, no you first" go round and round.

13. If you're arguing that Weiner should resign, you're a chump.
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 09:53 PM by Marr
Sorry, but it's as simple as that. While I think his behavior showed a level of stupidity I never imagined he possessed, and I'm angry with the man for so casually tossing away his potential and handing the Republicans an easy "they do it, too" talking point, we should not advocate the surrender of a vote in Congress lightly.

Are you really ok with losing a seat in the House just so you can say 'Democrats live up to a higher standard'? What does that even mean? This isn't a fucking teenage fan club and no one's going to give your team a gold star for good behavior. I want his vote there in Congress, and hell yes he should stop apologizing immediately and point out the fact that the Republicans have a sex *criminal* in the Senate, and gave the creep a standing ovation for refusing to resign. Weiner could at the very least score a few points while he's taking that well deserved pummeling.

14. There was a much easier solution
"Yes, it's mine. My wife and I have an open marriage, and she is fine with it. These were all private, consensual activities that in no way reflect upon my public service. Since it's nobody else's business, I will answer no further questions on the subject."
