In yet another example of that "new professionalism" that Justice Scalia fantasizes about, cops in New Haven, CT arrest a priest for videotaping them harassing some Ecuadorian immigrants during a raid. The police claimed on the report that they arrested him because they thought the camera might be a gun:
The police report, David Cari, one of two arresting officers, states that he didn't know what the New Haven priest was holding. He wrote that he saw an "unknown shiny silver object" that Manship had "cupped" in his hands, and was afraid for his safety. There's just one problem with this. On the video footage from the camera, the same officer who claims it might have been a gun specifically calls it a camera. Twice.
