SF: Now that he's through with us, Gavin Newsom moves to Marin.
Former San Francisco Mayor-turned-Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is once again on the move - this time out of the city.

Movers from Delancey Street Foundation, where Newsom did his rehab counseling after admitting to a drinking problem a few years back, pulled up to his Ashbury Heights home Monday. Workers packed the family's beds and other belongings and drove them off to storage.

It seems that the four-bedroom, 3 1/2-bath home that Newsom and wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom purchased two years ago for $2.7 million is just not big enough anymore now that a second little Newsom is on the way.

So, the family is pulling up stakes for the summer and moving into Jennifer's parents' five-bedroom, five-bath home in the Marin County town of Ross.

6. It confirms what I said about him during his second term
He only cared about the City to the extent he could jump-start his career. Perfectly explains the neglect and frequent absences. Good riddance to him.

8. Is this the same Gavin Newsom....
...who repeatedly complained about the lack of children in the city, supported attempts to make the city more family friendly, and chided parents who fled the city, encouraging them to STAY in San Francisco and raise their children?

Gotta love the revealing irony here.

9. Yep
And did nothing to make the city more family friendly in the 7 years he held office.

24. There were interesting things there...
... but we were put off by the dirtiness of the city and the aggressive homeless as well.

I'm sure it has positive qualities but they were overshadowed for us.

10. Moving in with the inlaws seems to be a step DOWN.
and FYI, people often move when a baby's on the way, and sometimes it means moving closer to family..

Did he promise to always live in SF:)

11. In the context of what he says vs. what he does, this is typical Newsom.

14. I think I've already told the story of the day a local reporter called me for comment
when she found out that the mayor's office had sent our PD out to a homeless encampment to roust everyone. This was after Newsom said he wouldn't do that. So, I called his comm office and informed them there was a roust in progress. Later that day, he released a statement saying that he had no knowledge of the roust until after the fact. Oops.

I've met Newsom. He's a very attractive guy, personable. But he was constantly doing stuff like that. And "politician" doesn't really cover it. He's a politician who comes down on the side of corporate interests over community just about every time. He makes a show of standing in picket lines for one minute but his policy always turns out to favor management, that kind of thing. Very much in the mold of Clinton and Obama.

16. Yep. Well, most people don't think of it that way but San Francisco
is a hub for the financial sector and for the defense industry. As Chris Daly says, this is just another day in the Battle for San Francisco.

25. Too often true. And Democrats are winding up on the side of the corporations who give them money
as a matter of course now. We have some hold outs in San Francisco, like Tom Ammiano and Chris Daly and a very few others. Ross. It's been nice to see some real good guys in action for a change. :)
