How many here send seductive photos to your significant others?
Wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends?

Anyone?

Just curious?

1. If Weiner had sent these to his wife, no issue.
Or at least he'd have had more standing to tell everyone to MYOFB.

2. I wouldn't even have an issue if he sent them to someone he knew well.
Or fuck, knew at ALL.

Only a total fucking idiot would send non-anonymous pics like that to people he didn't know at all.

them to random strangers. There's a big difference.

30. Some of us have been most bothered by this all along. Let's see, he's pissed off
* Those who are offended by the adultery
* Those who are appalled at the lying
* Those who are flabbergasted at his fucking stupidity
* Those who are angry that he's changed the entire discussion of politics in this country
* Those who are ticked that he's apologized to Breitbart

Everyone with some combination of the some or all of the above

40. It's both
Sending, at the very least embarassing, photos to total strangers, leaving yourself open for blackmail and extortion is the first problem, then lying about it is the second problem.

Is it hard to believe that Anthony Weiner was stupid in two respects?

Any of us who post here are certainly intelligent enough to grasp that simple truth. That is, unless we are so arrogant that we believe that what applies to all others does not apply to us. That would make us fools, arrogant fools though.

31. Pornography hurts women and all living things. Rather than engage in patriarchy-enabling "sex",
people should focus on challenging heteronormative gender stereotypes and participating in the peoples' struggle against degenerative and destructive cultural institutions like penetrative sex and photos of human genitalia which invariably reinforce the oppressive phallocentric male gaze.

Plus, good news! The scientists of the junior anti-sex league assure us that we are only 5 years away from total victory over the orgasm.

Question would be a little more useful if it was past tense. (How many here have sent...). Present tense implies ongoing and frequent use of photos. I haven't sent one in over ten years.

Also: I was an early adopter of digital photography equipment.

49. hell no - and let it come back and bite me?
It's epically stupid juvenile behavior. People simply cannot be trusted to do the honorable thing and destroy them after they get them, not share them with unauthorized persons, not leave them unsecured, and not use them against you at some time in the future. I'd never set myself up for embarrassment or blackmail like that. It's unbelievably stupid, stupid, stupid, fucking stupid. Putting such photos into cyberspace is as stupid as it gets because then it isn't just the person you send it to (or intended to send it to) that you need to worry about. Photos are forever and can't be guaranteed to remain forever private. Basically, once you put something on film it automatically becomes something that may not be forever private, and with the advent of the internet can now easily be shared with the entire world.

We used to be intelligent enough to easily understand this. I don't even know why this requires any explanation.

55. You shouldn't feel the need to be embarrassed.
The act of sex, or just nudity itself, is nothing to be embarrassed by. That's a self-imposed emotion brought on by a society that tells us that sex is dirty and nasty and never meant for fun (all the while using sexuality to sell everything from cars to toothpaste), and that only a certain type of person (i.e. handsome or pretty) is allowed to be sexual. Not saying this stuff is for everyone or that there's anything wrong with NOT doing it, nor am I saying that people who don't do this are prudes at all, just that I don't see anything wrong with people doing it either, and certainly don't feel that we need to be ashamed or embarrassed by our sexuality. I don't know why anyone would want to see me dressed, let alone undressed, but people have asked and there are some things out there. If the world at large wants to take a gander I'm ok with it, or I wouldn't have done it in the first place, for the very reasons you state. But those reasons don't apply to everyone, so neither does the stupid charge. It may be stupid for some, but not all.

I can understand the blackmail part, if there's something to be blackmailed for, I guess. I'm not sure what I could ever be blackmailed for, but everyone's mileage is different. I guess after being homeless a couple times that I feel that the world has given me it's best shot already, and don't see how anyone could ruin my life any worse than it already was. I survived that, I could survive pictures of my private parts coming to light, I'm quite sure lol.

Like I said below to another poster, if you feel it's wrong for you, or that it could come back to haunt you in some way, you've made the right choice. But people have different circumstances, or approach things differently, and that's not stupid, that's just being different from how you approach things. There's nothing wrong with either position. It all comes down to the individual.

Nothing puts a smile on your face faster, and puts crappy work days in persective quicker, than getting a midday text from your wife showing her doing something "entertaining"

It's pretty hard to embarrass her about sex (she's very open and matter-of-fact about her sexuality), but she obviously trusts me and expects me to refrain from showing them off or forwarding them to others. I've never done so.

54. Mine are out there lol.
I suppose it comes down to what's a stake for each person separately. I'm not really sure how they could be used against me, as I'm pretty open about my sexuality anyways and don't care if someone sees my penis, I don't have kids to embarrass, I don't have a boss that would freak out, and it wouldn't shock a single person that knows me well anyways, including my family, who would just laugh and chalk it up to me being me. It would become a running joke at the holidays, to be honest (my family has a seriously good sense of humor).

As for anyone being offended by them, that can't be my problem. One would have to dig to find them, and that's someone literally looking to be offended.

Your situation is probably different from mine, so for you it could be a risky and silly thing to do. If you feel it could come back to haunt you then you're making the right choice for yourself. Not a bad thing to think ahead, so to speak. :)

59. It's not naivete if you don't particularly care.
I'm not a public figure. I'm not ashamed of my body. I'm un-blackmail-able because my net worth is measured in pocket change. I've sent a lot of private photos and a few have "gone rogue" and been showed to others -- it honestly didn't faze me. The chance it might "get out" is more than outweighed by the chance that it might get me laid. ;)

Seriously, it's a wang. You've all seen one, I'm sure. It looks about the same as the rest.

about two adults exchanging pictures of their junk. Seduction evolves -- sexting is merely the latest incarnation of brightly-colored baboon butts being flashed to each other across the watering hole.

Also - I know that nothing is private on the Internet - people are always searching and hacking accounts\sniffing lines for data - anything you put on the web is public.
