Acronym Definition IOIYAR It's Okay If You're A Republican
We reference it here at DU.. Rachel has been spreading the word, and every day it's more and more apparent.
Tune in on almost any show on any day, where there is a "panel" of righties and lefties. The righties have NO problem referencing "the loony left" or "radical left"..or "hippies"...(Pat Buchanan seems to be stuck in the 60's)
Their spokespeople say the most derisive things about us, and are NEVER called on it, unless it's a left handed retort with a request that "we ALL be civil"..."BOTH sides do it, yadayadayada"
Republicans are used to having it their way..all the time, in every way.. They gain a majority in congress and they bully their way through every issue, doing things their own way, and anyone who dares to speak against them, is labeled traitorous. They LOSE the majority, and even from a minority position, they DEMAND that concessions be made to THEM, and in the end their demands are met.
The slightest perceived affront is met with blustery demands for public apologies, yet they never apologize. (except for the wishy-washy "sorry if someone took offense)
The "default" position has been moved so far right, that anything even remotely "liberal" is seen as an oddity, or something to be "corrected" somehow.
This perception is a large part of the problems we are mired in. Things that once upon a time were seen as perfectly normal and expected of a government, are now seen as unreasonable, loony, dangerous, or impossible.
Congress is unable to even DO its work, and spends all its time trying to one-up the other side and undo everything that has been accomplished.
Imagine how successful you would be at work, if coworkers spent all their time badmouthing your job performance, and set out to undermine everything you did at work. How successful would your company be if half the employees were sabotaging the other half's work?
