A sign of our times: Walk In Suicides.
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 05:54 PM by The Backlash Cometh
Three people on separate occasions have walked into a shooting range, rented a gun, and shot themselves.

On another occasion, a mom shot her son when he was practice shooting.

Just crazy shit in Florida.

A man committed suicide this afternoon at a gun range in Casselberry, police said.

The man, whose name has not been released, apparently left a suicide note on his cell phone, officers said.

The suicide occurred at Shoot Straight on U.S. Highway 17-92 about 3:45 p.m., said Sgt. William Nas, a Casselberry police spokesman.

The man rented a handgun, and one other patron was at the range at the time, investigators said.

Officers plan to review video of the incident.

1. The one time I rented a gun on a range, the guy in charge told us all...
"... if I see you put one of our guns to your head, I will beat the living crap out of you."

Or words to that effect.

He made it very clear that if you were thinking of killing yourself on his watch, you'd better be damn sure to be quick about it, because this dude was having none of it.

3. Blood is very corrosive.
By the time the Police returned the weapon to the owner, it will have pretty well been ruined. The Police can't clean it, since that would be tampering with the evidence. so, if you plan to blow your brains out, go buy a cheapie throw-away. Put it on your Credit Card. Fuck the Bank, not some stiff who is just trying to make a living and be successful, not a loser like you.

I can understand why the owner would be pissed.

7. That's about 8 miles away from me.
It's the Wal-Mart of suicide.
Frankly if I'm going to off myself?
I'm going to rent a high-powered exotic vehicle, and I'm going to hit a REMOTE bridge abutment in the middle of fucking nowhere at about 180 mph.
And I mean in the middle of fucking nowhere.
Already have the spot picked.
Just in case.
Under a bed of stars.
In the middle of nowhere.

All I'll hurt is some concrete.
And if I inconvenience some hand-job businessman the following morning?
All the better.

And at the peak moment when I up-shift and the engine is about to top out?
The seminal part of "Whipping Post" from the Fillmore album will be the last thing I hear.

"Sometimes I feel, like I've been DOWN to the whipping post".

That's if it even comes to that, of course.

Right now, I'm miles away.

BUT.

It's always good to have a Plan B.
