Koch-ALEC Plan To Privatize Government
In These Times Publishes Exposé Of Koch-ALEC Plan To Privatize Government And Destroy Public Services | In These Times’s Beau Hodai has published an explosive new exposé of how the right-wing billionaire Koch brothers are conspiring with the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) to promote and pass legislation nationwide that would privatize key government functions and sell off crucial public goods. The author tracks the effort of both the Kochs and ALEC across the country, including their pivotal role in crafting anti-labor legislation in Florida.

2. A VERY interesting section of the article. 'Paycheck Protection' disallows union dues deductions!
Blueprint for privatization

Should state employee unions be effectively prohibited from politicking, as “paycheck protection” legislation seeks to do, other pieces of ALEC model legislation seeking to privatize state functions would meet with less resistance. Three of these model bills—the Council on Efficient Government Act (CEGA), the State Council on Competitive Government Act (SCCGA) and the Public-Private Fair Competition Act (PPFCA)—call for the creation of state “councils” or “committees” tasked with streamlining state agency performance and identifying services to be outsourced to the private sector.

PPFCA calls for the broadest scope of privatization. The act seeks to prohibit state governments from “engaging in any commercial activity of any goods or services to or for government agencies or for public use which are also offered by private enterprise.” It also calls for the creation of “Private Enterprise Advisory Committees” (PEAC). The committee members—the majority of whom are business owners or corporate officers—would review what services, if any, government should continue to provide citizens.

3. I'm so discouraged that INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING LIKE THIS has to be sought and found on the Internet
Stories like this should be on every TV News Station in the country.

No wonder so many people don't care any more -- they don't even know what's really happening!

I don't even recognize this country as my own anymore. Which is exactly what I told my neighbors about my non-celebration of The 4th of July this year.

Oh. And here's the flag I did display:

4. How can pressure be exerted on IRS
to scrutinize the 501(c)(3) status that is being so blatantly violated by ALEC???

Would that best be approached through members of the Senate Subcommittee on Taxation & IRS Oversight?

9. ALEC has been violating its tax status since it was founded in the 1970s
So I wouldn't be real hopeful about getting anything to change now.

But on the other hand, it's flown under the radar for a long time, and that's getting harder for it to do, so maybe there's a chance.

10. They can't think of any new industries or developments
so they go after the public services for privatization...repubs are just not innovative...is R&D dead in every industry? Why haven't the existing industries come up with new products or ideas to market?
