Pres. Obama to make a "personal" announcement tomorrow
in the Rose Garden according to NBC twitter. Interesting. Or not?

"President Obama making personal announcement in Rose Garden tomorrow afternoon - NBC News"

1. "Personal" is definitely intriguing
No clue as to what the topic is?

2. I believe that means "will personally make an announcement", not announce something personal
Looks like it'll relate to the debt limit crisis.

6. Yes - our journalists no longer know how to use language.
Which is dine, since all they do is regurgitate whatever the government tells them to write, or whatever their corporate owners tell them to write.

14. Good point. A Tweet could easily be misspelled by THIS press corps.
I would think an announcement about budget/Debt Ceiling developments would be in a more formal venue, such as the East Room or directly from the Oval Office.

5. He is supposed to announce Cordray tomorrow, but I wouldn't think that personal
or even of Rose Garden import.

Although more likely they just mean to say that he'll personally be making an announcement.

34. Great. The person who doesn't know the difference between "personal" and "personnel"
has a well-paying job at NBC.

15. Apparently someone mistyped 'personnel', see:
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/breakingnews-sparks-confusion-on-twitter-with-obama-making-%E2%80%98personal-vs-personnel%E2%80%99-announcement-typo/

"We can confirm through Mediaite White House Correspondent Tommy Christopher that the announcement is one in the same,
as the press calendar for tomorrow does, in fact, have a “personnel announcement” scheduled for the Rose Garden tomorrow at 1:05 P.M."

Maybe MineralMan can cover this in a future "Visual Guide to Commonly Misspelled Words"..

29. Not surprising, given the generally low level of intellect of people in the media today
Probably a bunch of losers in the newsroom who got their degrees from unaccredited online diploma mills.

Simple spelling error by whomever types that stuff in. It happens. Other than that, I have no comment.

35. that simple spelling error totally changed the message.....
at first I thought he was going to say something about his family or some "personal" news...so...a misspelled word can make a big difference.
