Sanders Statement on Senate Debt Vote
http://sanders.senate.gov/newsroom/news/?id=75f2ef69-95c1-4bfe-bb9b-6495d763c11e

Sen. Bernie Sanders issued the following statement today after he voted against a Senate deficit- reduction proposal:

"The Republicans have been absolutely determined to make certain that the rich and large corporations not contribute one penny for deficit reduction, and that all of the sacrifice comes from the middle class and working families in terms of cuts in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, LIHEAP, community health centers, education, Head Start, nutrition, MILC, affordable housing and many other vitally important programs.

"I cannot support legislation like the Reid proposal which balances the budget on the backs of struggling Americans while not requiring one penny of sacrifice from the wealthiest people in our country. That is not only grotesquely immoral, it is bad economic policy."

and then we will face the wrath of the DINOs for not playing along

4. Sanders is one of very few in our government who speaks for me.

I dream of the day that Obama, Reid and the rest of the spineless shills who ran with a D but govern with an R can articulate a sincere and progressive position, but I suspect it's just that - a dream.

5. thank you Cal, and this is from the 1st Reid proposal
I watched Bernie in the Senate this morning, after voting everyone was jovial. Shaking hands, chatting ...

Bernie was alone, people did not cross over to talk to him. As far as I could tell, he left.
Bernie is the best we have...

24. It Does Touch Medicare
By cutting payments to providers. The White House Press Secretary said today it does not affect the seniors. Smoke up the ass, if providers stop serving the patients because of the payments or lack thereof it does affect seniors. If they can get a doctor it will be a doctor who is substandard and will take any patients they can get.

29. Absolutely!
I worked for docs for over 20 years, and I am old enough to remember many of them fighting Medicare. Even today, many will cap how many Medicare patients they will take, by one method or another. Cut doctors' payments, raise their malpractice premiums, erode patient/physician confidentiality, increase their paperwork (almost every doctor has to hire a separate person just to handle insurance issues), and see if that doesn't affect Seniors - and everyone else, as well!
