The Hoover wing.
My new name for the New Democrats or Third Way. Since everyone has to put a label on everything, that is mine. Afterall, there's "professional left" and other descriptions out there, right? It is why 2008 ended up not being a change election even though it looked like one according to the numbers. It's why the minority party has political control.

3. That about sums it up.
I like it.

"Third Way" and "New Democrats" sounds so unspecific. Could mean anything.

"Hoover" wing is pointed, self-explanatory, and has the negative connotation that the conservative wing of the Democratic party so richly deserves.

5. Not fair to Hoover.
His conservative policies failed the nation. But he was a compassionate man, and if he had the benefit of history that we have today, he might have made different choices.
