A helpful jobsearch site
I came across a job search site for people 50 and older which I think anyone could use to find a job. Just type in your state and it will list jobs in your area some of which have been posted only minutes before. I am amazed at how many jobs are actually available.

1. You can type in your zip code rather than your state

3. Looks like a halfway decent site -
Quite a few work from home or independant work positions - mid-wage ($13 - $22 an hour) with no bennies type of jobs that someone who is already on Medicare/TriCare, etc can afford to take to keep being able to pay the mortgage after a forced retirement, layoff or downsizing.

You won't get rich, but you might be able to live moderately well while going back to school for that ever optimistic "a new field/new technology" certificate re-training BS that you get from EEO after you get laid off and it's obvious that you won't ever get rehired at a compatable job or wage rate you had before.

Haele (yes, I'm over 50...)

I have been laid off my job at a major hunting and fishing publication since 2010. Since I was already 70 years old, I decided to retire. But I would like to find some free-lance work for copy-editing.

10. I know a 77 year old woman who just got a job as an executive secretary
at $40,000 per year with benefits. Took her a year to find it. She took advantage of free classes at the career center and got herself Microsoft Office certified. Her biggest fear was becoming homeless and living under a bridge so she worked her butt off to gain new skills and get herself hired.
