Hillary TOLD YOU SO!

:smoke:

" At a New York political event last week, Republican and Democratic office-holders were all bemoaning President Obama’s handling of the debt-ceiling crisis when someone said, “Hillary would have been a better president.” “Every single person nodded, including the Republicans,” reported one observer.

At a luncheon in the members’ dining room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Saturday, a 64-year-old African-American from the Bronx was complaining about Obama’s ineffectiveness in dealing with the implacable hostility of congressional Republicans when an 80-year-old lawyer chimed in about the president’s unwillingness to stand up to his opponents. “I want to see blood on the floor,” she said grimly. A 61-year-old white woman at the table nodded. “He never understood about the ‘vast right-wing conspiracy,’” she said. Looking as if she were about to cry, an 83-year-old Obama supporter shook her head. “I’m so disappointed in him,” she said. “It’s true: Hillary is tougher.”

During the last few days, the whispers have swelled to an angry chorus of frustration about Obama’s perceived weaknesses. Many Democrats are furious and heartbroken at how ineffectual he seemed in dealing with Republican opponents over the debt ceiling, and liberals are particularly incensed by what they see as his capitulation to conservatives on fundamental liberal principles. In Connecticut, a businessman who raised money for Obama in 2008 said, “I’m beyond disgusted.” In New Jersey, a teacher reported that even her friends in the Obama administration are grievously disillusioned with his lack of leadership—and many have begun to whisper about a Democratic challenge for the 2012 presidential nomination. “I think people are furtively hoping that Hillary runs,” she said.

The son of a longtime Democratic congressman from Texas, a 73-year-old lawyer, is so enraged with Obama that he’s threatening not to vote for the 2012 Democratic ticket—the first time in his entire life that he’s contemplated such apostasy. Among many of the 18 million Americans who supported Hillary Clinton in 2008, the reaction is simple and bitter: “We told you so.” On Real Time With Bill Maher, the host said that as far as he was concerned, Obama might as well be a Republican, and added that he thought last week represented the tipping point in Obama’s presidency. Wondering if liberals have “buyer’s remorse” about Obama, Maher asked his panel whether Clinton would have been a better president.

1. I knew where she stood
All I had to go on with the other was a voting record of "present". Guess, we are finding out now why he voted present to run as a Democrat. Oddly, one vote he voted "nay" was on the debt ceiling being raised. Strange to me.

It was brought up by Hillary in the primaries.

44. I am going back in history
So my point was made. I am glad Obama won the presidency, without a doubt. But I felt at that time, She was a better choice in the primaries. But I can't change where we are at today, and can only hope he gets re-elected. I can't fathom a Republican congress and a split Senate with a Palin or a Bachman or even a Romney in that chair.

Cause when you and others talk about "reliving the primary wars" it sounds a fuckofalot like any mainstream media whore telling people they'd better not start a class war, or else ...

31. this flawed thinking is our problem
our problem is the type of Democrat that BOTH Hillary and Obama typify. We knew about this type of Democrat, and we didn't like them, and we were right. But then the 2008 primary came along and the contest was boiled down to a choice between two of this type. People took sides and forgot that they are both disastrous for the Democratic party and for the country. I seriously hope we don't do that anymore.

I supported Obama over Clinton in 08. But I would have been fine with either of them. They aren't very far apart on much of anything and both were/are capable.

But if you think the political resistance coming from the other side has been nasty, having another Clinton in office would have probably redefined political nastiness, especially Hillary.

No amount of perceived "toughness" or "fighting" would have changed shit. Congress is powerful. There are a lot of conservative minded people in Congress, way more than there are progressive minded people. This was true when we had the 09-10 majority, its even more true now. A President can prevent them from doing something really stupid, but he/she can not force them to do something smart. Thats the way our country works and we haven't elected an all around progressive government in decades. We came close in 08, but not close enough. Those are the brakes. Deal with it.

60. You're probably right.. because she's not BLACK
Why the hell do you think Obama faces opposition to REPUBLICAN ideals when he tries everything possible to get something to pass through? The GOP can NOT let a "black man" be a successful president - and they're doing everything possible to make him appear as inept as they where hoping he would be.

So, my question is - do we let the GOP get away with it? Yeah.. Hillary may have had the correct skin color, and the GOP has no problem ticking off minorities - they have already lost those votes. It's tougher to be sexists.. they haven't lost all of the female vote (yet).

But just because Obama is being battered doesn't mean it's because he's not trying or doing a good job. It's because his skin color offends the GOP so much that they refuse to allow him any success if possible.

I doubt things would have been much different. Conservatives hated the Clintons and would have made her life in the WH hell. The scriptmight have been a bit different (no phony birth certificate nonsense) but they would have dredged up all the old investigations and rumors and probably added a few new slimes to the mix.
