9. It's pronounced Walk-ee-sha, Wauk is a native American word root
that shows up in a lot of place names here, sometimes as wauk as in Waukesha and Milwaukee and sometimes as woc, as in Oconomowoc.

24. It's one of those words that truly trips me
Thanks though. What does the root mean? The proto linguist in me... I just love language.

11. So it's now 16-17 in the WI Senate?
That is, 16 Democrats and 17 tea-baggers? Well, it's too bad we didn't win back the Senate, we could have used a big boost right now. Still, this should help slow down Walker's anti-worker agenda and hopefully organized labor will continue their outstanding efforts in helping to elect Democrats not only in Wisconsin, but all over the country as well!

22. Not quite. I had heard on Hartmann that the numbers are tied except
for one republican who generally votes for labor and teachers, against Walker. So Nichols was saying that effectively pro-labor can control legislation.

Wirch has it in the bag.

17. Such a sigh of relief...
I was really panicking - wondering what the hell we could do if he lost. That would have meant that somehow Kenosha suddenly got inundated with repubs, because the Dems here were ON IT BIG TIME! They called everyday, left door hangers and mailings for 2 weeks, every single day - at least 3 reminders.

19. It doesn't mean that Kenosha went Repub.
What it does mean is that, unfortunately, a few family members who still live there got together and found ways to cheat the system.

Sorry about my family. I'm glad that they were outvoted.

23. Don't worry, we'll deal...
Now Wirch will have to move into the city to accommodate the new boundary lines. Or he'll have to run in the new district which include Racine. Don't know how well known he is there.

27. I have friends in Racine.
We were in elementary school together before I left the state. They've paid attention to the race and have been posting on FB about it all evening. Wirch should do just fine there-at least in Racine.

21. It's up on Milwaukee Journal.
I closed out the link a few minutes ago. Kenosha County started handing over totals and it was a guarantee that he'd win there.

But the Republicans will still try to spin a win out of this.

Next stop--Walker.

31. Well, apparently reality and its liberal bias have conspired once again
To deny Republicans and their doom-sayers a victory they deserved. Shame, Wisconsin! Shame, shame, shame!

29. Well, I was authoritatively told last week
That Democrats were doooooooooomed in Wisconsin, because when (not if) the two races tonight went against the Democrats, Democrats would be no better off than they were before all this wasteful, expensive, futile recall nonsense started. So, I'm waiting for a certain DUer to weigh in to tell us how awful this is.
