Fight the astroturf - Please vote against mountaintop removal in this poll!
Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 10:01 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
WSAZ, the largest TV station in W.Va. is polling support for the destructive mining practice.
The results were 2-1 against MTR for the first few days of the poll, then, yesterday, then, yesterday, Friends of Coal, FACES and other industry front groups started began e-mailing and organizing supporters to vote for more MTR. As a result, support for MTR is currently winning. Every scientific poll done on the subject shows Appalachians overwhelmingly opposed to the practice, so you can see how much it's getting skewed)

If you could, please take the time to help us counter the astroturf by voting here:
http://www.wsaz.com/polls?pollID=127591138&submit=submit&mr=%24mr&oid=1&pid=127591138&cid=6500
Results: CNN is airing a special on Sunday about the Battle for Blair Mountain and the dividing lines over mountaintop removal mining. Do you oppose the practice?

(Read closely-a 'yes' vote is the anti-MTR option, BTW, as backwards as that sounds)

Sure, it's not scientific, but if they win, they'll spin the "victory" for P.R. purposes endlessly across state media.

2. I voted No.
Not because I support mountain top removal, but because I think trying to rally up support for an online poll that means nothing is a waste of time.

7. Well aren't you righteous?
I canceled out Travis's "I'll teach you a lesson" vote.
