renamed from Green Square to Martyrs Square
Thousands of residents poured onto the streets to welcome the rebels, congregating at the site which they renamed Martyrs Square near the water front in the centre of Tripoli.

Martyrs' Square (Arabic: ميدان الشهداء‎ / Maydān ash-Shuhadā’), also known as Green Square (Arabic: الساحة الخضراء‎ / as-Sāḥah al-Khaḍrā’) is a downtown landmark at the bay in the city of Tripoli, Libya.<1> The main commercial center of the city surrounds the square.<1><2> After taking it on 20 August 2011, Libyan rebels have restored the pre-Gaddafi name Martyrs' Square.
