7. Sigh, I figured we'd get all our summer's rain at once
It has been drier than a popcorn fart in central NC. We haven't had more than 3" altogether since June. I'm supposed to leave on Sunday for Shreveport from RDU on Sunday for a week-long contract job (IT'S A JOB!!).

Y'all stay safe down south, y'hyeah?

13. Don't feel too bad.....
Since June, we've had zero inches of rain and nothing but 100+ degree days. I sure hope a tropical storm makes it into the gulf soon. It's so dry here, a popcorn fart would look like a rain cloud!

9. The forecast track has been shifting to the east
Edited on Mon Aug-22-11 05:36 AM by quaker bill
with each update. It is recurving a little early in the track to make landfall in FL. This is no reason to relax just yet. You should get supplies regardless as it is still early in the season, this one could still shift west, or the next one might have our name on it. Storms that make it to the eastern end of Cuba before recurving are generally the biggest threat to FL.

11. We restock our hurricane supplies on June 1 each year
We drink the water in December and eat the canned goods over the months from Dec to Jun. I keep an extra propane tank filled, the car full of gas, important documents in water-tight containers, re-lube the screws that hold the hurricane panels in place, check flashlights and oil lamps, and make sure we have one weather radio and one regular radio working. We made extra space in the garage this weekend for plants and patio furniture. I'm ready for this to at least pass by Cape Canaveral at Cat 2 or more. 2004 has taught me to always be prepared during hurricane season.
