Poll question: Who is the most beatable GOP candidate?
And if you have a favorite ticket (GOP Pres and VP) what is it?

1. Palin. Aren't her negatives thru the roof? It was hard to pick
though. I am glad Rudy's not in...he strikes me as the most intelligent.

4. Sorry, I object to the framing of the question.
Voting for any single candidate would make the others appear competitive. For the most part, they aren't.

Back when I used to be an R any one of these candidates would have been laughable. As things are today, a few might be competitive only because of the campaign running machinery that is waiting to see which of them it will back. The rest don't even have that chance.

5. I see pretty much all of them (Gallup polls notwithstanding)

as pretty easily beatable. Not one of them have the gravitas of President Obama and their stance on the issues and policy prescriptions are nothing particularly new or exciting IMHO (or too radical). Not to mention the fact that, at least at the moment, they are all busy trying to jump through hoops to try to win the crazy Tea vote, which could (and should) come back to haunt them in the GE. Romney and Huntsman are the closest to being the most "acceptable to most people" candidates in terms of the GE and I strongly suspect that, in the absence of any late entrants, Romney is more likely to ultimately be the candidate and that he will put some Tea Party favorite on the ticket for "balance". :eyes:

10. I agree with your take, but
the fact that both are Mormons could do them in. The rethugs need their evangelicals to win, and I believe evangelicals think Mormons are the equivalent of heathens.

12. Good point

I think though that who gets the nomination will depend on whether or not the Republican primary electorate wants a candidate who "excites" them or if they simply want one who they think can win against Obama. If it's the former, it will be some Tea Party favorite (i.e. Perry or some as-yet-announced favorite) or if it's the latter, I don't see them going with anybody other than Romney. Huntsman seems like too much of a long shot for 2012, particularly given his recent heresy.

7. Palin
Even the Republicans are sick and tired of her for the most part.

We all know how incompetent she is. A lot of Republicans are learning that now too.

8. Romney--he's the most like Obama and, therefore, not enough of a change.
Granted he can still win, just not as handily as Perry or Bachmann.

9. They all are
Votes for the right will be split between the Republican candidate and the Tea Party. President Obama is re-elected with no problem.
