1. They just mentioned that on MSNBC and she's speaking with
a Senator from there who's telling what it was like.

They're scary, I know. Even having been through about a dozen, while they're occurring it seems eternal and you are just helpless.

4. and it sorta disrupted the Thom Hartmann program
(which broadcasts from DC) chances are the 3rd hour will be delayed/canceled. And I bet on Free Republic they're saying "It's Obama's fault!"

USGS reports this is around 5.8 magnitude...and it's centered in eastern Virginia about 100 or so miles from DC.

10. drop, cover and hold
get down low, cover your head (desk, table) and hold there until the shaking stops. DO NOT run outside.

Go into each room of your house, look around and decide where you would go if it happens again. you'll be able to react much better the next time.

11. And your head is full of so many thoughts and possibilities that
by the time you decide on an action, it's over.

Just remember -- "earthquakes don't kill people, buildings do" which is why they recommend standing in a doorway so the frame may protect you from the collapsing roof(!), or under a desk or table for the same reason, plus to protect from dishes flying off the shelves and stuff. :7

That's the danger of going outside - a building toppling on you (or as has happened here a few times, the bricks falling off the buildings), but that's your first instinct -- flight!

So if you do get aftershocks, just remember to Watch Yer Head! :hi:
