Pat Summitt suffering from dementia (UT Womens' Basketball Coach)

Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt has been diagnosed with dementia.

Dan Fleser of govolsextra.com reports that the Hall of Famer was diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic.

The 59-year-old Summitt has won eight national titles, 1,071 games with the Vols and coached an Olympic gold medal team. She is currently planning to coach this season.

6. +1 one helluva a coach
Done a lot for women's sports & basketball. Hope she can keep this at bay for a long time.

Well, it's sad when anyone is diagnosed with dementia (well, I'd put a caveat in there for Reagan and some choice others).

...this is heartbreaking.

She, C. Vivian Stringer, and Tara Vandeveer have done so much to advance not only the sport, but the status of women.

Summitt has a 100% graduation rate at Tennessee. Over 38 years, that's a lot of bright, competitive women sent out into the world with a good education.

I'll keep a good thought for her.
