Halliburton is most likely in planning new prison construction..or something as sinister

1. It's an economic development program. Construction jobs
for a few now, and the creation of prison-factories, paying slave wages, in order to bring manufacturing back to the US. Maybe prisons are just the form that slavery is taking in the 21st century.

2. Liberals are supposed to be FOR regulation.
Police raids, taking property, shutting down businesses, prison sentences- you know- Progressive regulation.

Just like when we regulated BP, for instance.

3. Last ditch defense seems more like it.
The Drug War is eroding all around us, falling apart in Latin America, and the rest of the world agrees that we are a bunch of addicts and crazy to boot.

5. I don't think U.S. addiction rates are fairly stable...
Even as the cost of cocaine & heroin has fallen.

I hope you are right about "last ditch defense." The feds will aggressively pursue prohibition -- violently for sure -- to maintain the regime. It will take substantial resistance, and leadership at the federal level (you can count the last one out).

I believe in the personal revolt approach: Just light up. When you want to. In public.

BTW, the "new" prohibition -- tobacco smoking -- WILL seek to outlaw smoking in public (2 cities in Cali already do this). It seems there is a "gray area" of prohibition folks are pursuing for both pot and the sot weed. But prohibitionist "gray areas" are prohibition, nevertheless.

4. The PTB blames any populist uprising they can't control on drugs
They always have and they always will.

Of course they're ramping up the war on drugs. It's the best way to exert maximum fascist control over us whether we use drugs or not.

7. Nicely done. But some folks here need to get over their economic determinism...
to see the more important motivation for drug prohibition.

"ECONOMIC DETERMINISM"

Studied for years in leading
universities NOW AVAILABLE for
any klutz who took Eco 101 or
an English Lit minor!

1) Stop intelligent conversation
2) Seem worldly
3) Be "In" with everyone else

Sold at K-Mart and anywhere
fine e-tailers can't be avoided.
