10 Month old missing baby case - Mother Preparing To Be Arrested
http://www.kmbc.com/news/29447814/detail.html

They make the Mom look like the victim, but there are additional details as well:

"Search for baby Lisa leads Police to grocery store"
- apparently, they have video of the Mom with an unidentified man buying a box of wine at a local grocery store at 5:00pm the day Lisa was taken. Also, there is a local handyman who hasn't been seen since then.

3. So sad
Whenever stories like this appear in the news, I am reminded that postpartum depression can make mothers do the seemingly unthinkable. Relatives ignore or are unaware of the symptoms and the mothers frequently hide it because some of the thoughts they have in the grip of the depression are so horrific they are unable to utter them. Mental health screening should be part of your after birth care!

15. They're not married.
The mother married a guy who is the father of her 6 year old son. The two split four years ago, and her husband is actually overseas in the military. She's been living with the current guy for a while, but he's just a boyfriend.

IMO, this introduces two interesting possibilities. 1) She's seeing someone else, and that guy did something horrific. 2) She's seeing someone else, and "daddy" isn't really daddy at all. Maybe "bio-daddy" decided to come get his kid.

16. We're all hoping for option #2 here....
if so then hopefully Baby Lisa is still alive and ok. There are rumors that there is a handyman in the area that is also missing since last week and he could be the mystery man. Also, that might help corroborate the story of a guy carrying a baby in diapers that night on their street.

28. So am I.
It's a longshot, but there's always hope.

In many ways, a "jilted lover" scenario makes sense and fits most of the clues in the crime. It explains why that house was targeted, how the person would have known where the baby was, why the kidnapper would have known to take the cellphone, etc. The only thing it DOESN'T explain is why the mother would keep her mouth shut about it.

5. I keep reading that
when she arrived home from work, the baby was missing. Who was babysitting? Haven't read anything about that.

7. She was at home. It was the husband that
came home from work & discovered that the baby was gone.

I hate to say it, but I kind of found her whole story really flimsy from the start.

Someone here said she was really distraught on camera. I didn't see any signs of that. I was right about Susan Smith when I saw her on TV.

10. And this is why...
when something odd happens, the police zero in on the family first.

I recall reading where someone said the mom HAD to be innocent because she was "crying real tears".

uh, yeah. :eyes:

If the mom is suffering from PPD, those undoubtedly were real tears, although not being cried for the kid being missing because someone "broke in" and took her.

14. The mom is still married to the father of her son - he is in the military and is stationed
overseas.

Currently crews are working to access a well found underneath the families deck:

18. was she buying wine for a friend? Or are they implying something else?
Are they implying a local handyman didn't simply go visit someone but must be involved?

Too many implications for me.

30. Oh, I know.
It's fun to tease box wine drinkers, but I'm aware that some of it is actually pretty good. I was joking around about it in the Delicato tasting room once and the guy behind the counter offered me a glass of Pinot Grigio. After decanting, there was no discernable difference between the box Pinot and the bottle Pinot.

I've had crap wine in bottles, and good wine in boxes. Like any wine, quality has more to do with the grapes and production process than the package it's delivered in.

Still, living in a region that produces a lot of wine, the stereotype of the redneck box wine drinker is pretty pervasive :)

25. I don't know....I wasn't there....but
apparently she told police originally that she was home the whole evening. Then they found a receipt at her house showing she was at the grocery store, so they requested surveillance tape and it shows her on there buying wine with some guy who isn't her husband.

Sure, it isn't a smoking gun....but anyone still defending the mom 100% needs to wake up.

27. Actually, I'm hoping that people remember there's still a (was) 4 month
old missing from Ludington, MI. Of course, this happened in July...and everyone's moved on to the newest cute baby. Kind of like this case...

31. So we shouldn't look for this baby and follow her story unless the other baby is found first??
This is all still fresh and time is very significant in these cases. That doesn't make the other case any less important, but do you have some new information on it you'd like to discuss or are there new leads?? Or are you just wanting something to complain about?

Edited on Tue Oct-11-11 12:55 PM by cbdo2007
That's the great thing about the world is that we all have different interests and luckily for these missing kids, there are enough of us with different interests that we can each focus on a different case.

I'm interested in the Lisa Irwin case because this is all happening just a few miles from my house and my wife is having our baby sleep with us because she is so scared someone's going to break in and take her.

Good luck to you on whatever missing child case you prefer to focus on.

36. Let us both look at them all.
After all, they all count. Let us not pick or choose just the sparkly ones...

Unfortunately... as you well know, this will get media attention and then fade away, as people glom onto to the next exciting case. Sorry, people are not focusing on different cases. The media is. And we swallow it. Please do not forget little Katherine Phillips just because she wasn't snatched from your neighborhood. Please, also, don't forget a moment or two for this baby:

29. The same old pattern.
Predictable, really. But still very sad.

1. Baby mysteriously disappears with no suspects or evidence of a break-in.
2. Police search surrounding area and find nothing.
3. Mother and boyfriend are questioned and start complaining about police tactics.
4. Mother and boyfriend start appearing on news shows.
5. Police zero in on the mother.
6. Confession time!

I know some people want to believe the best of parents but...it was clear from the start.

32. Ok, so on the day of the disappearance, 5 hours before, Mom CLAIMS to have
Edited on Tue Oct-11-11 12:27 PM by David Sky
put the child to bed, mom was seen on video at a store buying wine and other stuff.

That's all the new information we have.

My questions:

Who was with the child at that time of those purchases? Was father at home with child before he went to work?

If not, where was the child at the time of the grocery store visit by mom?

Lastly, who is the man with mom seen on the grocery store video?

Did I miss answers already given to any of these questions?
