Greece to "purchse" 400 M1A Abrams
WTF do they need 400 MORE main battle tanks? They have a GOB of Leopards.
Who is actually paying?
And why would Obama OK this?

24. Take it with a HUGE grain of salt.
BusinessInsider seems to have a lot of strange and exotic stories nobody else can verify, if you know what I mean.

When your country dates back thousands of years, you don't forget something as recent as the Peloponnesian War.

10. Good thing Greece has plenty of money to throw around
Of course we know that military hardware is much more important than taking care of your country's basic needs. Why waste money on medicine, elderly care, the poor, etc when you can buy hundreds of fancy tanks?

13. To do what?
They're main battle tanks; they're only really useful against other main battle tanks. Is Greece at odds with its neighbors?

They allways have this bitchering with Turkey, and sometimes with Bulgaria.. But Im pretty sure they also are little unsure about how things are in the rest of the Balkans.. A lof ot things are stewing in that part of the world even tho it might not be known to the outside world before the whole thing blow up - again

But why Greece shall with 400 MTBs when they can't afford getting their house in order, is as guess to me as for everyone else I guess... In fact I belive 400 Abrhams is little over the needs of Greece, even if they was in war... The Leopard 2 is far better suited to greeces need than the big, bulky Abrhams...

If you wanted to attack a bunch of civilians in a city, what better way to do it than with a few tanks?

Plus, I think Greece is kind of freaked out by Turkey's plans to build 1000 of its own MBTs:

35. So tell me this is the people's debt.....

Those irresponsible Greek workers, spending money they haven't got on tanks.

In Greece, as in the United States, the government has little to do with the people's will.

Why would Obama OK this? The business of America is business.

36. Who's actually paying? The Greek people of course. And why? Hell, Turkey might invade.
Its hard to understand, isn't it. There is Greece, a country that can not afford trash pickup, but they can afford armaments. How can this misguided prioritization exist?
