just for the sake of accuracy, he was about one in a thousand plus bloggers "predicting" the meltdown. He certainly was not unique. In fact he was very late to the party. The smart money, regarding real estate, pulled out many years before, and the writing on the wall regarding the obvious fall-out was very clear to those paying attention in the general public by mid '05. In terms of political-economic realities, I find him woefully naive. Lots of moving parts that he does not seem to grasp. His thinking is too black and white and simplistic.
But, I guess my real beef with him is that he continues to confuse his readers with corporate Think Tank nonsense, nonsense that benefit what you refer to as "TPTB", those entities outside of Congress that really run the show. Of course, this is at the expense of the American people, including his loyal followers. I'd like to see Karl talk openly about those monied entities. But, then, I suspect he's really not "allowed" to do that. Hope I'm wrong about that. Time will tell, I suppose.
Again, if Karl's intentions are good for the American people with regards to the purpose of OWS, then I give him an enthusiastic thumbs up for his support. I know that I've been harsh, but not, I believe, unfairly so, given his openly stated positions. So I criticize. Why? I'm no different than you in that I don't like when those things that I hold near and dear are fucked with, and that would include democracy.
