Some students joined with local groups in a protest outside of Thursday night's HISD school board meeting. They say they are upset about a flyer that HISD Board Trustee Manuel Rodriguez distributed during his campaign for re-election.

The flyer stated Rodriguez's opponent spent more time advocating for gay rights, than for kids.

Protesters say it was homophobic. Rodriguez has apologized, but they say more needs to be done and are planning to also speak at the meeting.
