2. He could win the GOP nom but he cant win a national election.
which is pretty much true for most of the GOP candidates.

16. I've made that observation as well
It's as though rank-and-file repugs are flailing about frantically in a vain attempt to find a candidate that isn't Romney. Each one, in turn, has had a turn at being their new darling. Once they remember what a sack of shit Noot really is and that he doesn't stand the proverbial snowball's chance, they'll lurch in a different direction, toward a new favorite. I'm putting on my Nostradumbass cap and predicting that Jon Huntsman is next in line.

20. Romney?
I mean, since Trump fiddled with the idea of running for the Repuke nomination, anyway.

do the least damage to their national brand. All the announced and unannounced candidates are dragging shipping containers full of skeletons.

23. Yep. That's my prediction too.
The hard-righties in the base will be throwing a hissy-fit, but Romney will be the last one standing after all the other assclowns flame out one-by-one.

And Romney will be about as popular as a root canal in the general election once people start figuring out he's Gordon Gekko with magic underwear and no charisma.

17. That would be too easy.
He's unelectable, thanks to his previous scandals. They won't let him remain in the spotlight for long. This does go to show how short American's memories are though.

18. if this goes on long enough, eventually it'll be Huntsman or Paul in the lead
At that point I might worry that they have a candidate who could be a threat to Obama in the general.

21. Neither one of those
Paul is on the fringes of the Republicon party, he's way too pacifist for the average war-loving neocon. And Huntsman is just Romney-lite, why have that when you can have the real thing?

It came down to Newtie or that asshat, Santorum, and the latter has no record of accomplishment for anything the Rethug base stands for, other than a man-on-dog speech that even they think makes him look at least a bit silly.

After they seriously considered Herman Cain for about a month, why is it so hard to believe they'd eventually turn to Newt?

Newt will have his week or three of ascendancy as well, until he reminds enough primary voters what a complete asshole he is.

27. I've been studying him a bit
And in his last week's ascendancy, some pundits agree with my conclusion that he knows he cannot seem to be the same sort of asshole he was in the mid-90's. Yes, we remember him, but few people under the age of 35 recall that particular Newt Gingrich.

There are pictures of him shaking hands will Bill Clinton, etc., I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to paint himself as part of the prosperity of the late 1990's in the general election.

His popularity will last about as long as it takes before people remember his having an affair while trying to impeach Clinton over the Monica thing, and his serving his wife with divorce papers while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery.

Meanwhile, pass the popcorn, this will get good...

sitting, one after the other, then standing up and flailing their hands over their heads for a second until the next one gets up. entertainment.

26. Gingrich is simply the wingnut du jour
He's made a career out of pretending to run for president. His book releases are timed to the election cycle. He's not in any way a serious candidate.

In the ouside chance he wins the nomination, he gets to answer questions about his many fuckups including why he was on the floor of the house bashing Clinton for screwing around, and then later at night screwing around on his 2nd wife with his now 3rd wife.
