The 'Others' a post for them
My son's plane will land shortly in Kuwait - and while I am worried about him and his time to come in Iraq, I want to point out something else.

Talking to my son's wife I see the pain the kids are in, the pain she is in.

The kids are waiting for a kiss from daddy good night. I know this because I just talked to his wife and she is really upset.

The others - they are the ones left behind waiting for our kids to come home from these wars. They are the kids waiting for mommy or daddy to come home.

I told my daughter-in-law tonight about my friends on DU, shared my earlier post - and she said:

"u have some really nice friends" to which I replied: "well, they are your's and josh's friends now too :)
If you ever want to post there, or need to, feel free to and they will be there for you."

The others in these wars - they are often forgotten or ignored. From the people hurt and killed over there to the spouses and kids here left behind.

I made this video for my son and his kids (ok, a little for me as well): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nUCVW8kPTw

Somewhere tonight, in Texas, two little girls are going to bed wishing their daddy was home with them- but he is on a plane to a war that we should never have been in. His son, too little to even talk, is missing having him home to change his diapers.

Somewhere tonight there are kids in war zones missing their dads or moms. And I am left wondering - why?

What are we fighting for now? What are we fighting over?

When will it all end, when will we stop killing each other and start working with one another? When will we stop seeing each other as the enemy and start seeing each other as a friend?

Pass on my warm thoughts to your son, daughter-in-law, & their little ones.

2. When the greed stops
When this country decides it is wrong to be a bully, when we kick the corporations out of politics

3. How many join the military...
... FOR their families??? In a country where the "Do you want Fries with that?" guy is considered lucky this is a dilemma...I have grown children and if the choice back then was "Fries" and poverty or "Sir, Yes Sir!" with healthcare and housing, as a father I know what my choice would be...
