Republican Honeymoon is Over
Edited on Thu Jan-20-11 10:39 AM by samplegirl
In the new NBC/WSJ poll:Obama’s approval is at 53% (where he hasn’t been since before those summer town halls in ‘09, that’s 18 months ago); confidence that the economy will improve in the next 12 months jumped eight points from last month; and the Dem Party’s fav/unfav went from a net negative (37%-41%) to a net positive (39%-35%).

Only 25% say the Republicans in Congress will bring the right kind of change (versus 42% who said that about the Dems in Jan. 2007, and 37% who said that about the GOP in Jan. 1995). In addition, a majority (55%) believe congressional Republicans will be too inflexible in dealing with Obama, while an equal number (55%) say Obama will strike the right balance. And then there’s this: The GOP’s fav/unfav has gone from a net positive in December (38%-37%) to a net negative now (34%-40%).

3. The blue dogs got voted out in favor of real right wing radicals.
We have a much more progressive democratic side in congress now.

Yet, they're still out there. Notice how they simply weren't even brought up in this election, even though the GOP had so much to gain?

Now, people will respond with "Yeah, so why didn't they steal the 2010 election?" That's about as easy as it gets...they didn't want to win it. I've written this many times, and I still believe it; no party who actually WANTED to win would have allowed McCain/Palin on the ticket. The Bush/Cheney long-term plan was to destroy the economy, enrich themselves, secure the war machine's power, and leave a devastated country to a Democrat to clean up. Then just sit back and wait, skate back into power after shifting the blame for the mess to the new president. It worked for a while. It's still working in some ways. But a funny thing happened...people actually LIKE this guy. He's actually DOING THINGS and getting stuff accomplished.

That's why I fear so much for the 2012 Senate race. Once again, the GOP NEEDS this win, and they know they won't get it through support of their policies...so, time to drag out the black boxes again. With a complicit media to back them up with bullshit polls and positive stories about their candidates and positions, they'll be able to pull it off handily with a few pre-programmed black boxes in a few key states. And then we're back to the same ol' same ol', with a president who appears far too willing to "compromise" with them.

:(

6. Several reasons.
1) HUGE influx of unmonitored and unmitigated corporate money
2) The resounding victory in 2006
3) A weak economy
4) Republicans stayed ahead of the Dems as far as PR was concerned. They controlled the message.
5) Low voter turnout. The right's best friend. When you have low voter turnout, those who are "steady" voters tend to be older and "conservative".

7. That's what SHE said
Jeez, barely two weeks in, with time off for MLK Day and the attempted assassination of one of its members, and this Congress is already drunk dialing old girlfriends while the wife is in the master bath "freshening up."
