Se. Hatch : Obama stands with the Occupy Wall Street protestors, criticizing the so-called rich
The whipsawing here is too much to handle. On one hand, the President, former community organizer, stands with the Occupy Wall Street protestors, criticizing the so-called rich.

On the other hand, he and his congressional allies support legislation that would make taxpayers responsible for the bad decisions of wealthy contractors.

I look forward to the critiques of this crony capitalism at the Occupy Wall Street gatherings.

2. When Hatch Talks About Absorbing Bad Decisions on Contractors,
you realize this is what all lenders do? If they make halfway decent set of loans, -the interest collected outweighs loans that go bad.

Now, there is certainly a concern about a government-created body making the right kinds of investment decisions. But there's no reason they can't do as good a job as the private sector.

If the federal government is trying to stimulate infrastructure spending, they can (a) facilitate private investment, or (b) simply spend the money directly. How is taking a risk of a private project failing more wasteful than spending 100% of the money directly?

Republicans should love a plan focused on stimulating the economy through the private sector with lower cost to the government. If this plan had been proposed by a Republican president, Hatch would be arguing against each and every point he made in that speech.

3. Hatch is anti-future. He doesn't like any new concept.
Edited on Sun Nov-20-11 04:21 PM by JDPriestly
He has grabbed his bit and is holding onto it as tightly as he can.

The ultimate anal personality. That is Orrin Hatch.

Hatch just does not get the fact that the future will arrive no matter how much he tries to stave it off.

He is raving against high-speed rail. Does he seriously thing that our economy is going to be able to support air travel much longer?

The cost of air travel is rising compared to wages. Planes become more low-budget and uncomfortable every time you fly.

Gas is going to get much more expensive in coming years.

But Orrin Hatch has convinced himself that life will continue as it has. There will be no change, no need to change.

That is the kind of stupid person who gets elected to our Congress. It is just not believable. If we got corporate money out of our elections, I sincerely believe that better candidates than Orrin Hatch would have a chance.
