WIsconsin Sierra Club Endorses Scott Walker Recall
Source: Examiner

Why recall? The Sierra Club's reasons include:

Scott Walker has

Effectively stopped all new wind energy projects in the state
Cut funding for the Gaylord Nelson – Warren Knowles Stewardship Funding by 30%
Undermined Wisconsin nationally recognized energy conservation program
Abolished the state Office of Energy Independence
Carved out a special exemption from wetlands protections for a campaign contributor
Eliminated the requirement that municipal water supplies be disinfected
Called a special session for the purpose of passing legislation to roll back water pollution and wetlands law .
Appointed as DNR Secretary the state Senator with one of the worst environment voting records in the Legislature.
Sought to severely weaken mining laws to benefit an Appalachian mining company that want to build a massive strip mine in our north woods.

The WI Sierra Club asks WI residents who care about the natural settings and environmental health of their state to participate in the recall process.

Im very pleased to see the Sierra Club come out and throw their support! Since Walker can get unlimited funds from his Koch addiction, here's hoping the REAL Wisconsin values can get support from other great organizations! :)

3. I like that they recommend recalling both Walker and Kleefisch

to stop this:

Consider what Scott Walker has done to date:
Has effectively stopped all new wind energy projects in the state
Cut funding for the Gaylord Nelson – Warren Knowles Stewardship Funding by 30%
Undermined Wisconsin nationally recognized energy conservation program
Abolished the state Office of Energy Independence
Carved out a special exemption from wetlands protections for a campaign contributor Eliminated the requirement that municipal water supplies be disinfected

5. Gosh, I hope so. But this endorsement won't change the opinions of the GOPhers, will it?
This recall is so important. The people of Wisconsin have done a service to the nation in their resisting the brutal actions of this Gov against the working people and the vulnerable of Wisconsin.

The list of improprieties, conflicts of interest and cronyism is staggering. The collusion of the Koch brothers and other groups that have infiltrated every level of government in WI as well as the criminal acts of those out of state with unlimited funding to derail this recall are frightening. The hubris and hatred displayed by the Walker supporters is something seldom seen in most states.

People from Wisconsin have helped support the struggle of those in other states as well. If If this can't be done in Wisconsin with the organization and vitality of the recall movement, I fear for my country more than ever. We love you, Wisconsiners.

6. My uninformed guess (from afar) is that GOTV will matter much more than changing minds.
Getting the signatures is clearly a matter of finding and mobilizing your core supporters.

In the recall election itself, one could anticipate a low turnout if nothing else is on the ballot. That means that each side will emphasize getting its voters to the polls.

Changing minds plays a role, of course. The Sierra Club announcement will help to publicize Walker's anti-environmental record. This will also help to blunt any charge that the recall is all about union power and is just Big Labor's retaliation against Walker for cutting of the gravy train. (I'm not saying that charge would be meritorious, just that I wouldn't be surprised to see Walker's allies try to smear the recall effort that way.)
