Edited on Mon Nov-28-11 02:06 PM by Liberal_in_LA
Students are speaking now. One just said that the definition of non-violent protest at UC campuses was amended
to remove linking of arms.

6. They don't need to appeal anything. They need to call it out as bullshit
which it is.

7. Yield when pushed

When presented with a forceful action, you can try to be a wall, or you can try to be a cloud. You can break a wall with a hammer. You can't break a cloud.

Part, disperse, curl, reform, flow. Be a cloud.

If there is space, when pushed, yield the focus point of the force, turn and flow back into the space that the pusher has just vacated.

If there is not space to yield sideways, yield downwards, if possible. Let the focus of the force pass above you. Crouch and hold your place. Move forward, when possible, as the force passes above you. This could involve someone falling over you and getting irritated, but it's still passive.

Just some thoughts.

Cheers,

MemeSmith

8. The student was probably referring to a remark by the UC Berkely chancellor
====

"It is unfortunate that some protesters chose to obstruct the police by linking arms and forming a human chain to prevent the police from gaining access to the tents. This is not non-violent civil disobedience," (Robert) Birgeneau said in a letter.

14. He must have missed the part in the video where Sargent Pepper Spray steps
right over the students. "Obstruct" must have a different meaning in his dictionary, not to mention "non-violent." What an ass.

15. The UC Berkeley cops clubbed students.
The UC Davis cops, a week later, pepper-sprayed students.

16. My mistake. I still stand by my belief that his definition of
"non-violent" cannot be found in any dictionary but the one in his head.
