Seattle police officer rails against city's anti-bias initiatives
Source: Seattle Times

A Seattle police officer, writing in his union newspaper, disparages the anti-bias training the city employees are required to take, and calls city leaders a "quaint socialist cabal."

Under the headline, "Just Shut Up and Be a Good Little Socialist," Officer Steve Pomper calls the city's 5-year-old Race and Social Justice Initiative an attack on American values and calls its supporters "the enemy."

He expresses contempt for a "Perspectives in Profiling" class that department members were required to take last year to raise awareness about racial profiling, and he questions at what point he and other officers should say "Hell no!" to the city's attempts to "indoctrinate SPD in social justice culture."

The column, appearing in the December issue of The Guardian, is renewing concerns about the culture of the police department and officers' willingness to address racial bias.

2. reminds me of the asshole who sits in back of every company diversity initiative and says we have to
tolerate his bigotry because that is only fair then or because Jesus said he is right.

3. Fire his teabagging ass. While officers don't give up their 1st amendement rights . . .

When they put on a badge, they still have to behave professionally and demonstrate a reasonable level of judgment, since they're running around the frakkin' city armed *by* the frakkin' city. Lying in a public forum (the city leaders are demonstrably not a "socialist cabal" of any size) and gross insubordination are firing offenses.

So dump the dickhead.

I live in Seattle, believe me if the Cops show up the phone cams come out, everyone here is on their asses over murdering John Williams.

Officer Pomper is a racist,he just wants to arrest more minorities, that much is apparent. He shouldn't use big words he doesn't understand either,it is publicly embarrassing and it makes him look poorly educated.Which I am sure he is.

This whole Police situation is a management problem.Diaz is a lousy leader, fish rot from the head out.

Maybe the Mayor needs to take a lesson from Ronald Reagan and fire all union members. No union lives without the blessing of management.
It could well be argued that the Mayor has every right to disband a Police Department that exhibits a malignant, hostile group psychosis.
It is in the interest of public safety to hire public contact employees who exhibit empathy in their personalities. After all we are their employers,we shouldn't be victims of publicly employed sociopaths as we are now.

6. More of that goddam rabble rousing "enemy" horseshit.
"socialist" does mean race to him I guess.

Racism is not so acceptable of an American value as it once was, mr officer sir.
