there is no substance anymore - just a round of the latest actors whose movies are coming out or the endless round of right wing book of lies - it is free marketing - not worth watching much of it anymore - you see the same actor(s) on several shows over two or three days before their movie appears. The movies are overpriced for the time period and the substance is shallow because they are pumped out so fast. How many stuff toys, action figures or some other made in china junk can they put out at the same time.

yuck

give me johnny carson again

1. I agree. I don't watch those night talk shows anymore. It's just some
blonde with a way short skirt talking to Leno for a few minutes before a movie clip comes up for some forgettable flick. Or some glib reactionary peddling some nonsensical book that will be remaindered in three months.

2. Craig Ferguson has the only late show worth watching
Often his guests forget to plug whatever.. He's got a quick mind & steers them into interesting topics

and he's got a robot skeleton sidekick..

and secretariat

and Sid, the cussing rabbit

3. Actually, they have always done that or promoted
some rocker's latest album. How do you think they get guests? However, the guests knew they had to be entertaining while promoting their movie, book or album. Are they not anymore? I haven't watched late night TV in ages.

4. To be fair, they were pimping movies and new tv shows on Carson, also.
Maybe not so much in the 60's and 70's, but they did do it.

Though not nearly as blatant as it is today.

5. They couldn't say the name of the other network
You would have to guess. That was easy, it was either going to be CBS or ABC. Imagine guessing now with all the cable channels.

11. Come to think of it, I remember Alexander King and Oscar Levant showing a new book now and then
on the Jack Paar show back around 1961. No one will remember any of those people.

6. Do you think their ratings would improve if they invited ...
professors of English literature as guests to talk about classic works of literature?

9. Is the weekly Chess Report better than a brothel in Curaçao?
