Want to help dogs in need?

This might not belong in this forum but given the exposure it can get in the few minutes it lasts before it's locked or moved, I figure it's worth the risk. :smoke:

Hi - As some of you may know, I am the proud guardian of a rescued Sato dog from Puerto Rico. Save a Sato is the volunteer group that managed to save her and send her to the mainland for adoption.

Currently the Animal Rescue site is running a "Shelter Challenge" in which one can vote for their favorite rescue charity to win one of three prizes (3rd place = $2,000, 2nd place = $3,000 and 1st place = $10,000!) Save a Sato has been toggling between 2nd and 3rd place in the international category for a couple of weeks now but only 1/2 of a percent currently separates 3rd place from 1st with only 2 days left for voting.

Would you please consider voting for them over the next two days (on any internet-connected device you own or have access to!) to help them make it to first place? The contest ends on 12/19 and they could do so much good for these poor island dogs with that much money.

But it was hard to pass the "name the animal" test at the end. I didn't know what they wanted me to call a Lady Bug, had to start over and thank God I got "goat" that time.

My baby isn't from far away, but she came from a shelter.

And yeah, I had a problem with ladybug too when it first appeared. I joke with my husband that when I'm voting on my PC I always get cat or cow but when I'm on my iPod with it's 1.5 in onscreen keyboard I get elephant - every time. :)

FTR, they run this contest a few times a year and no shelter can win it more than once - maybe next time we can get a drive started for your baby's shelter?

Yeah, I thought it strange that they're international but it's better for them that way. They're so small they would never win the US competition. Whatever works, right? :)

I only realized yesterday that they don't update the stats as you vote - they only do that daily so we won't know how far we have to go until the morning. (I can tell you the update doesn't happen at midnight because I checked. ;) )
