Hell has frozen over- Fox showing an Egyptian feed...
and the clueless anchor trying to understand "why are those people in Egypt so upset?" At least the guy she's interviewing has a reasonable and fairly good explanation. Of course she ignores what he says, and puts her own bizarre Fox-style spin on it.

(had to look to see what their bizarre spin was...) What kind of newswoman (alleged) doesn't do any homework about other countries having a major political upheaval?

18. Eye Candy
not hired for anything else. Unless general whackiness and ability to talk gibberish in an authoritative or at least "perky" fashion is considered a job skill....

6. CNN and MSNBC weren't too bad, but I've been watching
the English Al Jazeera feed online. Great analysis from them.

9. CNN was using Egyptian state tv footage for the protests.
Unbelievably bad.

The only good coverage I've found has been on the indy channels. That's where AJ English is on, Amy's great coverage and Mosaic on LINK.

Apparently Friday night after prayers is the time for everyone to be out and doing "fun" things. But not today.

12. I have this fantasy
that someone will barge onto the set during a news show and start actually questioning them about the subject they are covering. I would love to see them subjected, on air, to a comprehensive set of basic questions about Egypt's history and geopolitical significance.

20. Yeah, but it needs to happen THERE, right on the spot.
Attach their perfectly coiffed selves to the chair, keep the cameras on them, and start the pop quiz.

Every time they can't answer a basic question or reply, "In what respect, Charlie?" their salary gets reduced by $10,000 per year.

5. Our media are fucking embarrassing.
I keep thinking of all the people here from that area of the world and what they must think when they try to find news on US cable stations.

I just passed by FOX, too. Some barbie doll bimbo in a tight dress talking to the audience like a seventh grader trying to do a report.

11. The little, viewer supported channels have been kicking @ss today.
Putting the big three on cable to shame, shame, shame. Amy had Juan Cole, a reporter on the ground in Cairo, all kinds of real stuff. Free Speech TV running AJ English.

We live in a news desert.

23. well, consider that in the past one would not have been
able to see any of that stuff, and that social media drove a lot of the uprising. So it's not quite so bad, after all. I'm just surprised that none of the "big 3" cut away from the soap operas to report on such a major story!
