Today is a holiday...so Congress takes a week off.
What in the hell are we paying them for??
When they return, they will have 4 days to fix the debt limit problem. Shouldn't they be trying to fix that this week?
I understand this is common with Congress to take off weeks at a time for holidays and the entire month of August for summer recess. But these are dire times. We have critical issues that need to be addressed. What are they doing back in their districts? Raising money?
And all I get is today off...anymore time and it comes from my leave...
I think that members of Congress should have to follow the same leave policies as all other federal workers...just think how surprised they would be when that pay stub reads LWOP(leave without pay) and their paycheck is much smaller because of all the time off they took...
10. Dear God, remember when the republi-CONS bellyached when Nancy Pelosi decreed
that Congress would work a full five-day week? She changed the way the GOP had preferred doing it: Monday off. Tuesday you stroll in sometime. There may be stuff going on in the afternoon. Or was that morning only? Meh, who cares? Wednesday work. Thursday bug out sometime after the morning session wraps up. Or whatever. Friday off.
They had approximately two to two-and-a-half days' worth of ACTUAL ON-SITE WORK. MAN they whined and bellyached when Pelosi changed that.
25. Too bad she couldn't have made that stick. I thought it was a great idea!
I never heard the conclusion of that. All I remember is the huge harrumph that went up about the very idea of Congress having to work a full five-day work week. Everyone I saw quoted, who was doing the harrumphing, was a republi-CON.
