But other than that, Jon's been spot on tonight.

19. I thought besides defining what corporations want,
he was saying that we should be thankful for even having jobs because we needed to compete with slave labor around the world and hence should take any kind of wage/union concessions necessary.

If there is another interpretation to his 2nd segment, please educate me.

22. Like I said I just got the last 2 minutes.
To me it seemed like pointing out what corporations want was his entire point of that segment.

17. not too bad
at one point he argued that, just as fox news claimed the tea partiers were ordinary Americans but now are attacking the Wisconsin protesters, Ed Schultz called the tea partiers whackjobs but now speaks of the Wisconsin protesters as ordinary Americans. I don't really watch enough of Schultz's show to know how fair that characterization is, but I do remember that some other MSNBC shows (well, Rachel Maddow, at least) made a point to say that, while there were some big-money backers behind the tea party protests, there were also "real americans" involved (however misguided they may have been).

Other than that, he did a good point of encapsulating the reason people were protesting, revealing the governor's hypocrisy, and breaking down some of the corporate agenda ...

23. It's strange, having not missed an episode since the first. What? 1996?
Suddenly I just lost interest. It started at the rally. It wasn't edgy enough for me. Actually, that realization started quite a while back. I want more fight. Less congeniality.

24. I couldn't believe that he picked up
the WI story and thought it was about wage concessions rather than due process and a seat at negotiations. ...at least that is what I heard.

He showed his true colors at his "sanity" party. He is more concerned with "civility" than social justice.

Stewart doesn't know what he's talking about. He's obviously not even thoroughly read the NYT articles about this, nor the post's. He's totally clueless on this VERY important issue.

this is the 2nd time after his criticism of Keith Olbermann. 'nuff is enough.

Hubby and I kept waiting for the punch line that didn't come in the first segment. We turned the channel.

29. Real Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde situation
The first bit on Wisconsin was embarrassing. It was all like "You're not overthrowing a dictator and you're not getting shot at so how can you compare yourselves to Egyptians?"

And he used a bit out of some TV interview to make fun of a woman who turned from being interviewed to call for the people behind her to start chanting. You didn't see enough to know what actually provoked that, but it had a strong feeling of being taken out of context -- and it seemed simply cruel of Stewart to mock the person involved.

But then he turned his fire on the corporations and he suddenly seemed like the Jon Stewart we all know and love.

I have a strong feeling that Stewart is going to seem increasingly irrelevant and out of touch over the next 2-3 years -- and he won't ever know what hit him. But for now, it's still possible to enjoy the good bits, as long as you don't mind that occasional impulse to throw things at the TV screen.
