Take with a bucket of salt.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/february_2011/48_back_gop_governor_in_wisconsin_spat_38_side_with_unions

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters agree more with the Republican governor in his dispute with union workers. Thirty-eight percent (38%) agree more with the unionized public employees, while 14% are undecided.

1. No surprise, the MSM has been the propganda outlet for corporate America for decades. However,
those that believed the lies from WMDs to deregulation that still trust the republicans, will be paying a very hard lesson if they aren't stopped.

The only saving grace in that poll is the undecided

4. I sincerely believe that the US is growing more divided.
I think we're living in a 40% Reichwing, 40% Progressive and 20% duh! nation.

2. Rasmussen is severely biased...
Rasmussen polling occupies an odd place in the political culture. In the conservative world, it is the gold standard. If you go to a conservative on basically any random day, you'll see somebody touting a Rasmussen poll.

....The habitual practice by conservative pundits of quoting only Rasmussen polling reinforces conservatives' overweening certainty that they embody public opinion. It's an important component of right-wing epistemic closure, the Republican base having its own pollster who always tells them what they want to hear.

7. The AFL-CIO commissioned a poll with very different results.
Yes, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner is a Democratic polling firm.

The two polls at least provide a bracket around the "real" numbers.

8. Here it comes again.
Polls we don't like are "right wing" "outliers" "not polling the right people" "not polling with cell phones" and a hundred other excuses. All of which were used in the run up to the 2010 elections by people who claimed the polls were wrong and we were going to gain seats in that election.

17. I did. Did you read Silver's analysis in that link?
At the very end of his article he promotes another poll which "uses the same methodology as Rasmussen" but it got different results! Huh? He attacks a poll for its methodology and then promotes another one which does, in his words, the same thing?

15. I know the rap on Rasmussen but I have seen the same compalints
against all the polling firms. If you don't like polls or pollsters don't look at them.

16. Those are good numbers...

After all of the years of right-wing media, Reagan me-me-ME memes, reactionary politics, right-to-work union-busting, "Why should I pay for schools when I don't have any kids" bullshit, and Democratic Party... ahem... cowardice, 48 to 38 is great. What it says is that, with a little work, "public opinion" would move to 90 to 10 in support of the workers.

Well, maybe 80/20 if measured by Rasmussen...

20. On any given poll ...

Rasmussen decides what the results will be before they even make the poll public.
They are a joke.
