Zogby poll of greatest presidents since WWII
Edited on Tue Feb-22-11 02:57 PM by center rising
Pollster John Zogby came out with a poll of the presidents since WWII, and who was the best and who was the worst. The results are here.

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.cfm?ID=1949

My observations.

1, The people who put Reagan the same as FDR as one of the greatest presidents, have to have their heads examined. I still don't see how conservatives can call this man the greatest when a lot of his policies went against what the neo-cons stand for.

2, JFK should not be third when his term was cut short by his assassination.

3, Why George W Bush is not farther down on this list mystifies me. This cretin did more to destroy what this country stood for than the previous presidents combined. Also the 21% who call Bush great or near great are just plain nuts.

4, Obama should not even be on this list because his term(s) are not over. When he's done with his presidency, then and only then should he be judged on his presidency. Also the 38% who say his presidency is a failure are a lot premature.

5, The elder Bush should be ahead of Sonny boy, because Sonny boys terms were a total disaster, and not anything the elder Bush did.

6, 10% believe FDR was a failure??!!! GMAFB!!!

7, Only 28% think Richard Nixon was a failure?? Again GMAFB!!

Your thoughts!!!

3. It just goes to show that propaganda works.
People who didn't even know what it was like under Reagan because they weren't born yet, think he's fabulous.

5. It just shows that our society is awash in propaganda.....
RR as #1.... that is the biggest joke of the whole list. He lied and abused his authority, the same as gwb.

The only worst president was gwb himself.

Scholars rate Eisenhower best president of last 60 years

Date: Monday, February 21, 2011, 2:43pm MST - Last Modified: Monday, February 21, 2011, 2:50pm MST

Dwight D. Eisenhower — whose wife, Mamie, was from Denver — was the best U.S. president to take office in the last 60 years, according to a survey of 238 presidential scholars.

The Siena College Research Institute of Siena, N.Y., conducted the survey. A database with the complete results was posted Monday to mark Presidents Day. (A link to the database is below.)

Franklin Roosevelt topped the survey — the fifth analysis of presidential greatness conducted by Siena since 1982 — and Theodore Roosevelt was No. 2. Both men were New York governors before heading to the White House. Rounding out the top five in the latest rankings were Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

Experts around the country were asked to grade each president in 20 categories that covered a wide range of personal qualities and on-the-job skills, including communication ability, a willingness to take risks, imagination, integrity and luck. The top five positions have remained remarkably stable since Siena’s first poll, with Franklin Roosevelt claiming the No. 1 spot each time.
