Is It Only Conserves & Cons Moving South & West?
I keep hearing how the change in the census will be good for the Cons. But what if liberals are spreading their wings and flying west and south and...the joke is on them?

2. it's definitely Liberals moving to WA state
Edited on Tue Dec-21-10 06:43 PM by maxsolomon
the influx represents an exodus from the conservative midwest. that new district will most likely be a dem. and were it not for "Bagdhad" Jim McDermott's 20 year lock on it, the 7th would be the most likely district in the nation to elect a socialist or green party candidate.

the south? i have no clue - i barely feel as if i live in the same nation as the south.

8. wtf? jim mcdermott = one of the most consistently liberal votes in the state.

McDermott received sharp criticism from conservatives for his visit, and then afterwards when he began his prediction that President George W. Bush would "mislead the American public" to justify military action. During the run up to the Iraq war, McDermott insisted that no WMD would be found in Iraq.

that nick - "baghdad jim" - is used by the right to attack him from the right.

either you don't know washington politics, or i don't know what.

the greens have been sellouts & opportunists in europe; a green in that seat would be no improvement.

and socialist? what "socialist" party exists in the us that's not a tool of capitalist interests?

McDermott has been under attack from the right for various missteps (in their eyes). Your post seems to be an attack on him as well.

In December 2004, Rep. McDermott came under investigation by the House Ethics Committee when they had to determine whether he violated standards of conduct for leaking an illegally recorded telephone conversation during a committee investigation in 1997. At that time, the committee was investigating the conduct of then-Speaker Newt Gingrich.

The illegal recording was made by a Florida couple, John and Alice Martin, who overheard a conversation between Rep. Gingrich and top Republicans on their police scanner inside their car... It was at that time that they delivered the tape to McDermott, the senior Democrat on the committee at that time, and who was in town for a swearing-in ceremony. (No action was taken by the Ethics Committee against Gingrich, Boehner or other participants in the recorded conversation.)

Shortly afterward, McDermott leaked the tape to several media outlets, including the New York Times. Rep. John Boehner, who was part of the Gingrich conversation, sued McDermott for illegally leaking the tape; U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan concluded that McDermott was behind the leak and ordered McDermott to pay Boehner for "willful and knowing misconduct" that "rises to the level of malice".

It's creepy and far from neighborly.

4. Don't forget that the illegal immigrants count as population for districting.
They cannot vote, but their presence helps grow the size of the southwestern states representation.

The pop. increase is mostly due to the influx of Mexican & other Latin American people.

7. Could it be....
that cons in the south and midwest are having more babies than libs in the NE?
cons have been calling on their troops to outbreed the opposition for
many years now-it's just like in Idiocracy, stupid people have more kids.

12. In my neck of the Southern woods
the largest influx of new people has been very conservative, older Yankees who retire here. Many of them are teabaggers. My county used to be solid blue until snowbirds decided to retire here.

15. Snowbirds don't produce, they just die off.
The republican party has a dying base. Cut the census results any way you want, the fact is the most loyal of the republican base won't be with us in ten years if nature is considered.

20. These two "Fucking Retards" Lefties...
..moved from Deep Blue Minneapolis to Dark Red Rural South in 2006.
The South is beautiful,
and belongs to ALL of us.

*Inexpensive fertile land

*LONG Growing Season

*Pristine areas

*Low Property Taxes

*Low Winter Energy overhead

*Abundance of CLEAN water

*Low cost of living

It is a shame to just let "them" have it.

bvar22 & Starkraven....Turning The South Blue!
