I would worry so much less about my Job, Etc. if we had Public Health Care!!!

My biggest worry about losing my job is not finding another one, it is not having health care while I was out of work.

I am so jealous of Canada and the UK. If I lost my job tomorrow I would try to find something to make ends meet but knowing I had health care would help a lot.

How many people also would try another job or career if they knew the health care would be there?

Unbelievable that this country cannot solve that issue.

I wish everyone would stop and think what their life would be like if they never had to worry about health care. It's hard to do...but it's worth the exercise.
You could work in a job you loved - you could work two or more part time jobs..just because you liked the variety! You never had to think twice about scheduling your annual check up or mammogram or whatever.
I could go on and on...

It's tragic that we, as a country, couldn't have an honest discussion about single payer and what it would mean for all of us. If our elected officials really represented their constituents rather than corporations...maybe that would have happened.
If our mainstream media wasn't under corporate control...maybe that would have happened. :(

5. I could afford to retire early

I've saved and invested carefully with the goal of retiring about now (I'm 56), but between the plan and the execution, I've been diagnosed with several chronic illnesses. They are being well managed, and I feel great, but I know this will only be true while I can afford the medical care and medicines necessary to manage my illnesses.

This makes me one of 'those people' that insurance companies don't want.

If I really didn't need to worry about health care costs and availability, I'd be retiring on my next birthday, as planned. Instead, it looks like I'll be working until I'm eligible for Medicare.

There is just a portion of it that REFUSES to solve it. And, unfortunately, they are the ones who have all the say-so right now.

That's part of the point of not having these safety nets in place. They have us kept where we have to consider all the potential horrible ramifications that we and our loved ones would have to suffer should we balk about our treatment this way, and they like it.
