I'm seeing it more and more - the benefits of a "Right-to-work" state
-people who don't eat,drink or pee for hours on end. people exposed to hazardous environments people with no benefits people who haven't seen a COLA in over a decade. people who "retire" without a pot to piss in.
I will direct positive vibes to all the brave souls who are laying it on the line. Those of us in "Right-to-work" states applaud you (Silently).
2. I have a bit of a platform in another online community

I can write real pretty when I want and I am said to have "ovaries of steel" and I regularly piss people off by telling the truth and standing up for my beliefs. So I show up in the community gossip a lot and am a BNF (Big Name Fan).
Posted on my blog today about what it's like living in a right to work state, as a warning. It sucks. And being working class - I know it sucks. Very personally.
I also posted a video of Pete Seeger singing Solidarity Forever with pictures of labor struggles in the past. And a tip off on a Twitter hashtag I found tonight.

3. I live in one and call it a Right to be Fired state......n/t
every job (ok, there are some union jobs) but most jobs are at will jobs. For those who do not know, at will means that you can be fired at any time for any reason or none at all.
5. it`s getting harder for unions in a right to work state also...
even with union protection the companies will tie up a union in grievances and at contract time. my wife knows all to well that this is the memo that they are getting from the red states and their billionaire masters. at least here in illinois we have a democratic governor who is on the unions side. we put him in with less than 5000 votes while the republicans made big gains in the house and obama`s senate seat.
6. I have one to add: Working a 12-hour shift for 21 days in a row to cover co-worker's
vacation. My husband has had to do that a number of times.
And the work environment has gotten much worse. Employees are essentially on their own because supervisory positions have been eliminated (more profits). It's a "Lord of the Flies" situation without mediation.
7. Talked to a few firefighters at a Columbus protest
They all had stories of a family member or friend of a friend in a right to work state who got injured on the job and were let go because of the subsequent health care costs. I can't imagine doing that to someone...
