6. Don't worry...
The people who do will drag you down with them, except for the ones who make out on this. They'll just wave at you and call you a sucker.

8. Again? DOW only down 50 yesterday (0.43%).
A 2% or more drop at the start today would be expected, with the troubles in Japan. Japan stocks down 11% today, 17% in 2 days.

9. No, dropping like a rock, is -20%, like in Japan,,
Given the situation worldwide, this is actually pretty good performance.

15. Did anyone just hear a bubble burst? Like a hydrogen bubble
inside an overheated reactor building?

This is the end of the nuclear power industry, and a whole lot of companies that were expecting a $30 billion bailout promised by Obama. They'll try to turn this around by arguing that all the nuke plants need upgrading, but I can't see the American people tolerating government subsidies for this technology anymore.

Civilian nuclear power was always about subsidizing the costs of fuel stocks for nuclear weapons, anyway. Hopefully, the draw down of those arsenals is for real.

Beyond the end of the fission energy sector, I think people have reached the end of their tolerance (and ability to pay) for the Military Industrial Complex and its related Domestic Spying and Homeland Security complexes, which make up like 60% of the federal budget at this point.

The United States needs to go the way of most of Europe, fold up its imperial tents, and become a decent social democracy.

13. All these indexes are arbitraged, which interlinks them. One disaster is a disaster for all, with
some smoothing - surprised it took this long for the Nikkei plunge to impact the Dow and other NY markets.

16. Kewl...I'm getting ready to buy up a bunch of QCOM stock, and may wait till it bottoms out now.
They just snagged single source chip provider for the iphone, bought Atheros, and are in real good shape for 4G and 5G. 40-45 a share would be a steal of a price to get it at.
