French fighters fly over Libya - where are the Arab League planes?
All along, I've been told "don't worry, the Arab League is going to be taking part, it won't be just the British and French". Right now, the only fighter jets flying over Libya appear to be French.

The most dangerous part of any NFZ is always the beginning, when anti-aircraft fire is the most dangerous. I maintain that if there is any Arab League participation, it will only be AFTER the skies are considered relatively "safe", when air superiority has been achieved. In other words, they'll let the British and French do all the dirty work, then allow their fighter pilots to seek glory.

2. Arab league has to keep their own people from revolting.
They need to keep their planes in reserve to strafe and bomb their own unarmed protesters.

4. But only after the skies are safe, right?
Let's see if they take part in any active missions before Libyan air defenses are bombed out of existence and their air force is demolished.

5. I'm relieved it's not the US who's taking the initial action - you're dithering on
who's going first? I'm also relieved that we are not going this alone (so many were saying No Fly Zone! but I can just imagine the response if Obama acted on his own).

Even if the Arab League doesn't supply air power (which I DO think they will) whatever support they lend will be welcome.

Leave the logistics to the planners. They're not doing this to appease us, they're doing it to stop Qaddafi from murdering his people. Let them do what they need to do.

13. And why is that? So civilians can be killed?
If you think any significant command and control is there, you are wrong. No, it would be civilians who would be killed as well. And by the hands of foreigners. War is not a game.

10. They are flying BEFORE they launched the tomahawk
to take care of command and control because the cease fire was not...

Just saying.

I know this is hard for people to understand but... flights are not just instant...

11. The United States has just invited the former...

...Colonial Powers in North Africa (France, the UK, and Italy) to intervene once again in North Africa. The issue might escape notice here but it has not escaped the notice of a single person living there. The hypocrisy underlined by the actions in Libya, while ignoring (or supporting) the massacres in Yemen and Bahrain... that is small potatoes compared to this stunning piece of Petroleum Theater.

12. I'll believe it when I see it.
Those Arab states would be apeshit if some of their military were taken POW. Well, I suppose the Europeans would too. And please remember that's a real possibility. Though it would be legal under international law, I'm sure the warmonger media would make it seem like kidnapping.
